Week 6 Report
After a two week break, we got another look at the conference teams this weekend, including the first crossover between the Indiana teams and the rest of the conference. Most of the action was in Louisville, with a few teams racing at Ohio Wesleyan’s home meet. Wooster competed alone at Muskingum.

Louisville Cross Country Classic – Blue Race (John Carroll, Kenyon A, DePauw, Wabash, Wittenberg) 41 teams, 10-man entry limit. Note: the same course as this year’s Great Lakes Regional.
John Carroll (4th - 212) backed up their performance at All-Ohio, achieving a 44-second spread to dominate their in-conference competition. Junior Nate Julien led the Blue Streaks in 25:28 as freshman Charles Payne debuted at 26:47.
Kenyon (8th - 335) produced another strong performance, with their top three runners under 26:00. Joshua Breard led the Owls in 25:38, and sixth man Dylan Sibbitt returned to competition after missing All-Ohio.
DePauw (31st - 801) had a solid top three this weekend, but lacked the depth to back it up. Freshman Patrick McGrail was the Tigers’ top runner in 26:30. Many runners who didn’t race last meet raced today, and vice versa. Perhaps this was planned, to account for entry limits.
Wabash (40th - 1029) also held back a lot of their top runners, notably freshman Tyler Kerzee, Wabash’s top runner last meet. At this point in the season, I don’t think we can expect to see Haiden Diemer-McKinney on the grass. Hopefully he’s just focusing on track this year, and not injured.
Wittenberg (DNP) only had three finishers, as one runner DNFed. At this rate, Wittenberg will have to conscript some sprinters if they want a team score at the conference meet. Individually, Lucas Eisele continued his strong season, running 25:36 as the second NCAC finisher.

Ohio Wesleyan Invitational (Denison, Oberlin, Kenyon B, Ohio Wesleyan) 12 teams.
Denison (3rd - 96) made significant progress this week, as the Big Red’s 2-7 tightened their spread to William Jackson out in front. Senior Noah Cyr ran his best race of the season, taking 5th in 26:09, while classmate Oliver DiCerbo dipped under 27:00 for the first time.
Oberlin (8th - 181) took a step backwards from their last race, with several key runners out of commission. Liam Newman raced well to lead the Yeomen (4th in 26:03), but the team suffered a 1-5 spread of over three minutes. Piers Shirk was missing again, as were Ryan Faris and Charles Endres.
Kenyon (9th - 265) sent their B team to OWU, where they managed to beat their hosts’ top squad. Nothing much notable here.
Ohio Wesleyan (10th - 301) was about as expected, but at least their top man Jacob Blubaugh ran a PR of 27:17.
_____________________________________
Muskingum Daniel Mullen Invitational (Wooster) 7 teams.
Wooster (4th - 109) took on a challenging course at Muskingum, where their last runner clocked 54:29. Without any relevant competition, it’s hard to make much of this result.

Reflections: John Carroll defended their status as a strong favorite, though Kenyon maintains a chance at an upset at the conference meet. Oberlin’s depth problems persisted, while Denison and DePauw showed they’re on the upswing.
