Total b**** move out of Declan McDonnell. Should've been ejected from the meet. In fact, he's committed to run for Duke next year as a grad transfer, and if I was Jermyn I'd be reconsidering whether or not I really want this guy representing my team...
As a side note, the OP certainly has a very short memory. The Nike Outdoor Nationals shove was worse, though I guess to be fair it was more of a real fight and less of an unprovoked attack.

You think that would be an ejection in any other sport? In football, you can literally grab any opponent and throw them to the ground and only get 10 yards for holding.
This isn't a football game, its a race. The nature of the competition is to be faster than your opponent, not to remove or eliminate them from the competition.
McDonnell was in a poor position at 300m to go. He was losing contact with the lead and didn't want to go around. He is a bigger guy for a runner so he just shoved his way through. That is not allowed and unacceptable.
I am very disappointed that the CAA did not remove him from the meet.
Definitely illegal (and just cheap & frankly $hitty) and warrants a DQ. Maybe an ejection based on flagrantly bad sportsmanship. If this sincerely rises to the level of all caps "violent" and makes you think of felonies, then you're prone to hyperbole and hysterics. The voting trends suggest that many posters here are pearl clutching weenies. I was shocked by how innocuous the video was after reading the title.

Maybe the sport would be more popular if you could take out your opponents.

But neither are worse than Josephat Machuka...
Can someone post the video of this altercation?
I'm assuming they mean this one. Anybody have the video of the Nike Outdoor Nationals Emerging Elite Mile from 2023? It's probably available on Runnerspace only.
It’s not even the most violent DQ of the last few months, remember the relay where a girl brained an opponent with the baton?
Corrrect. That was a yawn. I'm not even sure if it passes for violent. He didn't try to hurt the guy. He was pushing him to the side.
DQ? Yes. Ejection from the meet? No.

Strange video out of Kissimmee, Florida this week, where a first place runner was sucker punched and knocked to the ground by another athlete during a long d...

Did you just compare T&F to American Football? You compared the sport where a bunch of 140 pound nerds run in circles to a sport where they give each other concussions for a living.
Not the most violent. The DQ from I believe Nike Outdoor Nationals a few years ago was much worse. The two runners were shoving each other on the curve and then one just threw the other one off the track. I can't find the video, however.
On the soccer comment, as a long time wingback, I call that "Saturday." That's an ordinary foul and maybe a touchy ref gives a yellow, particularly if someone was on a break. That is not a red. In D3 in a rivalry game an attacker briefly got past me on the sideline then tried to seal the deal by sliding over in front of me and hitting the brakes. I clumsily basically football tackled him as I caught up and plowed over him.
Yellow.
You're only getting a red for them being in on goal and you haul them downfrom behind. "DOGSO." That's why I always made my last gasps slide tackles trying to play the ball. And you only do the slide if you can look like you're doing it from in front and with a chance at ball.
It should be "called" in either TF or soccer because it's a full arm shove to send him out of the way and likely affect his race, not a "nudge" or "shoulder charge" where the 2 mutually bang fighting over space and if he falls it's more of an accident.
