I'm sorry, Goss and Turkington are fine D3 runners, but they are not Big Ten runners. Goss's steeple is good, but steeple is for 1500 runners that can't score at the Big Ten meet. His 1500 wouldn't be in the top 70 in the Big Ten. He could be a top 15 steepler, but they already have Gerres for that and I expect Scott to be a sub 8:40 steepler by the time he's done. Stocke has the potential to be really good too.
As for Turkington, he would be 50th in the Big Ten in the 5K. He'd be the Gophers 5th 5ker, but they have red shirt freshmen and 1500m types better than that. Any talk of the Oles hoping to compete with the Gophers or Tommies is ridiculous nonsense drummed up by their in over his head coach and his army of keyboard warriors.
Bati's ceiling is very high, but he's never really proven it on the track. At the worse, he replaces Florshein and is a scorer in cross. At his best he becomes a strong training partner for Jones and they both move into the 15 in the Big Ten together. I already expect Jones to take a big jump and having a seasoned training partner could be just what he needs. Jones is a national cross team member and represented our country at the World championship. I think he's ready to take that next jump. I hope Mo goes with him.
