I wonder if David Katz will chime in. He posts here occasionally. He was one of the certifiers of the 1984 Olympic course. Don't know if he has anything to do with 2028, though.
If it's a point to point or non-loop course, I don't see them shutting down all those streets for 500 Trials participants on a random Saturday on February.

I'm somewhat skeptical that Fisher and Blanks will go to the marathon, at least any time soon. Both have a lot of potential in the 5k as well as the 10, Blanks went sub-13, and there's a bracket of money to be made going that direction as well.

I think it would be logistically impossible to run the same course. However, I do really hope that if the LA marathon course is going to be hilly, the Olympic Trials course isn't pancake flat. Even if it's on the streets somewhere, have it be a city that has a lot of hills. The best two marathoners still made it through in the 2024 Trials, but that sort of makes no sense because you could end up picking marathoners that are fast on a fast course, but then when we get to the Olympics they flame out and get embarrassed.
Figured Venice Beach > Santa Monica Pier > San Vicente Blvd (make them run on the median as an homage to the West LA runners) > past UCLA > Beverly Hilton > up Santa Monica to Hollywood > make it down to Pico > Staples Center > Coliseum
this is a little short so a mile or 2 to imagine something else. This is supposed to be a Car Free Olympics I believe, so could be innovative or a traffic disaster to do the 405 to the 10 interchange.
california will clean (hide) up their massive homeless population for a few weeks and then stop caring after that. On a related note why the heck would anyone be homeless in new york, chicago, atlanta, and other cities when california is a paradise for the homeless? Great weather, lots of free goodies, and failing La La Land Fantasy policies.
