While Wikipedia does list him as dead and links to the same article from below, several reports on x are saying he is alive. https://x.com/carofux/status/1...
Fake news! Someone I know just talked to him. He is well and alive
I hope you are correct. Even though, Wikiepdia currently lists him as deceased, many are saying he is alive and well:
Several African journalists have verified that reports of the death of renowned Sudanese middle-distance runner Abubaker Kaki are untrue. He is alive. pic.twitter.com/r6vP5vC2fK
Probably pointing out who his coach and training partners were and, well, you know.
No, there was one spam / random post (something about tips for training), and someone commented to not live in a place where militias are firing mortar rounds

the commenter who remarked that one should not live in a place where militias are firing mortar rounds is spot on and should not have been removed from the Table.
Nothing wrong about requesting training tips either, this is a running website after all.
You are aware that ANYBODY can edit Wikipedia, right? The person who originally posted his date of death is a person from Egypt who had never edited Wikipedia before. This is his/her only edit ever.
Someone could edit a random celebrity's Wikipedia page right now and probably start a big commotion on twitter.
Don't post that someone is dead unless you KNOP they are dead. I know.

Anyone being callous about a runner's death here can GTFO.
And requesting training tips on a thread about a death is idiotic.
Abubakar was killed yesterday! What a great athlete
Indeed, Khamis and Rudisha was very well loved back then in 2012 when they ran together that Olympic 800m final. Khamis usually took it out hard and fearlessly like the Khamis we all know for so long, had never failed a doping test but also never suggested anything dirty in his career. I will always remember how the LRC fans on the message board went berserk whenever Khamis gritted in the last 100m of any race.
I suggest the brothers and stakeholders of LRC feat Khamis with a sword of honor style send off and make sure his name is consecrated and repeated in every LRC middle distance thread henceforth.
Example: in a thread discussing Josh Hoey meteoric rise or even Kerr’s lacklustre 1:50 recently, or even El G’s 1500m athleticism we must never forget to insert the name Khamis into all our injunctions, prepositions and pronouns.
Let’s all take one final moment of solemn prayer to salute KING KHAMIS. 🫡

It doesn’t matter if he is dead or alive. This is a running forum and we feat running greatness-ness. If not for Rudisha and that sly fox Nigel Amos, the name Khamis would still have been plastered all over the pens, mouths, bulletins and threads of every running forum that ever existed including LRC. Khamis would have been considered the greatest honest 800m athlete of all time barring an administrative screw up.
The name Khamis evoked pleasant images of a square jawline and chiselled bone structure. A hardened Hercules built for battle. Sudan has a son they can be proud of.

When I see bizarre and strange posts like this, I often wonder what type of person would write something like the above. How old are you? What do you do for work? Are you married? Kids? What are your interests outside of running?
At what point do we change the title of this thread from "RIP..." first to "False Alarm...." or something thereabouts? Leading with the false news contributes to spread of false news.

Get straight to the point and tell us your point. Does it matter if I’m married with kids? I can tell you my interests outside of running are reading thriller novels and playing chess. I like to strategize and chess helps me in that. Nothing in my posts suggest anything untoward as our distance KING KHAMIS is alive and kicking.
Khamis was unusually reticent in front of the camera for someone so big and bulky. He was a gentle Hercules as they know him in Sudan. He and Mohammed Aman had the same personality.

Maybe the OP is trying to use this faux pas opportunity to sell us KING KHAMIS and remind us all just what we would have missed IF and that’s an infinitely big IF he had lost his life so needlessly. Now we instead remain thankful that Khamis remains alive and kicking.

You seem like trash. Improve.
I confess I was fooled by the title too and was fully into eulogy mode when only later did I discover Rojo saying he was still alive and heard on a phone call. For one moment I thought a miracle happened because it could easily have been a life lost under these circumstances. Life is so fragile even for the gentle King Khamis I must say. If anything this thread has made me value and appreciate Khamis so much more.
