For the second time in two weeks, James Hall of Melbourne has shattered the youth world record in the U12 1,500m age group. Competing at the 2025 Australian Junior Championships near Perth, Hall won the U13 boys’ 1,500m with a stunning time of 4:11.81.
Jakob did 4:21.98 in the 1500m at age 11 (In 2012, it was also his first 1500m ever. He also did 1:34.99 in the 600m and 2:14.03 in the 800m that year). He broke the previous age record which was 4:24.34 by Andrew O'Neill (Australia, 1995)
Daniel Skandera did 4:21.2 in 2019. And James Hall did 4:13.84 earlier this year.
It's pretty obvious that Cam Myers has already made it.
yes,and no. Still too early to tell. And even if he has, theres still a possibility he'll get injured, and be out of the sport in his early 20s. Some teen phenoms make it,and have long careers, but most dont. Even those who do often peak at too young an age.
You can say the same about any athlete at any stage of their career.
Its not a good idea to predict the careers of child phenoms,or teen phenoms. Only time will tell whether or not theyll go onto become anything. We dont even know whether or not cam myers or sam ruthe will still be running in their early 20s,let alone be the next jakob.
True. However, I'm betting the 16 year old from Texas is the real deal.
Theyre all extremely talented, and theyre all the real deal. There isnt a teen phenom that isnt talented.Too many people on this site hype up and over hype teen phenoms, which i never do,because nobody knows what the future holds. Let them compete and develop naturally ,I say,and let them enjoy their sport.
Even if she did dope with nandrolone which would be absolutely idiotic. I don't care anymore. She missed 2 olympic games during her prime. Missed out on potentially millions in earning potential. Was publicly disgraced, wasn't allowed to compete. Most people would have given up, it's pretty much a career death sentence. It's a good penalty. If she wants to try and make a comeback I can't be against that as long as she can win clean then I'm not going to judge her no longer. There's a lot of athletes that are flying under the radar as we speak, sure they haven't popped yet but it's a dirty sport, gotta espect the puritan nature of this board. I forget 99 percent of these guys never even sniffed the big leagues

Crazy, I used to run against Andrew in the 90s. I had no idea he had the world 1500 age record. He did train very hard for an 11 year old.
