I’d be very concerned that Nur simply hasn’t raced in forever. I’d put his chances above Woody but below everyone on your list. I don’t think he is talented enough to beat out all these guys with a truncated buildup. Also with all due respect to McGorty, he’s behind Gilman/Jacobs for making the 5,000 team.
You did forget Nico Young though. With USAs being 3 days though, it’s possibly that Blanks/Nico don’t double.
I’m a huge Nur fan but his tore his post tib he will need most likely 2 years plus
Ah, I somehow missed or forgot that about Nur. Bad luck. Wishing him the best but you're probably right that he will have a harder time. Healthy Nur would have a great chance to make the team.
Thoughtsleader is right about Nico, I'd put his chances above many of those on that list.
Lots has been said about the slow times in the 3k/5k group at the first GST.
But this type of tactical, championship-style racing is exactly what Cooper needs to make a US team. Outkicked by Grant in both races but hung with him till the last 25 - 50m.
Also got a nice check.
i had Cooper pegged to threaten of land on the podium in just below top tier world class and he delivered.
now making the US team is a crap shoot. 347 mile is no guarantee, and infact won't make the team.
and the 5k has ever improving Nico, Grant is a lock, and many others.
i'd personally look to just improve modestly and gradually if possible,
