The 1500 and 5k this year are going to be absolute bloodbaths. Spare a thought for Cooper Teare! He might have to book a last minute flight to Orange County and hop in The Ten this weekend or start practicing his barriers and water jumps.
Look at these sets of PBs we have by Americans in the NCAA right now (alphabetically).
Green: 3:32.20, 3:50.74, 7:40.09
Langon: 3:33.38, 3:54.60, 7:36.87, 13:14.11
Martin: 3:33.41, 3:48.82, 7:36.09, 13:30.69
Murphy: 3:33.02, 3:53.85, 7:35.47, 13:10.42
Sahlman: 3:33.96, 3:52.82, 7:40.41, 13:38.96
Strand: 3:33.41, 3:48.32, 7:30.15, 13:26.60
Teffra: 3:36.52, 3:52.44
Wolfe: 3:36.25, 3:54.17, 7:30.23, 13:10.75
Amazing! And that doesn't include new pros Young and Blanks. The future is looking good for Team USA!

What's crazier to me is just how competitive it is! Last year it was all Blanks after NCAA xc, then Nico showed up indoors while Blanks was injured, then outdoors it was Parker Wolfe's turn. But Blanks goes to the Olympics! This year it's been much of the same with Ethan Strand dominating until the DMR anchor. Then he gets Gary back in the 3k. All while Teffra upsets Green in the mile. And now Murphy and Langon both beat Gary and now have faster outdoor PRs than everyone except Green. These guys are hungry!
I say if your name isn't Grant Fisher, Cole Hocker, or Yared Nuguse, you're gonna have to be on your A+ game to make the 1500 or 5k team. If Hocker ends up doubling, there might well be only one spot open for each. We'll probably end up having at least a few sub 3:30 and ~12:50 guys sitting at home ringing up Sam Parsons about how to get dual citizenship.
If I had to guess it was a run fast after NCAA Indoors while you have a mini peak then go back and train for a month before racing next at Penn type of race for the Nova guys

This was my thought exactly. It's the same the XC runners going to BU in December.
But not the most important part - the final 400. Murphy and Langon still had one. I guess that's what you risk when you run a time trial when the other competitors are running a race.

If you're not doing double threshold then you live under a rock. Marcus has been training his guys right for years now and it shows. two sessions a day at 5:10 pace for Liam and Marco, now 3:33 guys. ain't that something.
