No, but it is a bragging right for some people. Ingebritson being one who seems to be doing it for bragging rights.
Regarding hoey, it will interesting to see if how long his dominance really lasts. He looks good to me. His elbows are lil bit to far out, but he's getting the job done. There is a possibility that what we are currently seeing with him is very similar to a Jeremy Lin "linsanity" streak. In other words, it's great while it lasts, but never comes back around full strength again.
Bryce Hopple, who has repeatedly outrun Hobbs Kessler in the 800, has dedicated his entire life to the 800 meter event alone. His center of gravity looks alot better than hoey's, which indicates he has a stronger core. Pretty insane how Bryce ran an American record in Paris and it still was only good enough for 4th place. I hated the other individuals in the field and authentically felt sorry for Bryce. I just hope he has a big enough heart (and energy) to try to medal in the Olympics 4 more years from now in LA.
Hobbs is still improving, but after the incredible effort I saw from Bryce in Paris and still not reaching the podium, that's one heck of a disappointment to bounce back from. Perhaps, just perhaps, medals in the modern day sense of the word are overrated.
