As soon as Sadie makes that number public, then we will know.
Sadie doesn’t get paid with a her NIL. She gets gear and travel. The high school kids get absolutely nothing. That’s why when Owen Powell (who has a Nike NIL) broke 4min for the first time was wearing Adidas not Nike. Their NIL’s are dumb. These high school NIL’s have no money involved.
Holy, those splits are smooth. I am more impressed about how even they were than how fast they were cause being within .15 of a second for your last 5 laps is ridiculous.
But how does Rylee Blade run a 15:16 5000 but only a 4:42 mile? That is insane endurance!
Ryle Blade's 1600 split in the 5k was 4:54. Even crazier, her third 1600 in the 5k (from 3200 to 4800) was only 4:51.
She is a rare runner who can run only slightly slower than her mile time for 3 miles.
Not only is it rare, such a runner doesn’t exit. If you check athletic net, you’ll see that her results are all over the map, and in the right race, on the right day, at least 4:35 should be doable.

That's not correct. While many of what people call "NIL" deals at the high school level do not involve money, some of them are real NIL deals that do in fact pay the high school runners. Sadie Engelhardt's NIL deal is a real one. She DOES receive money.
What is the minimum difference in pace for a strength runner from 5k to mile? 10 seconds. That puts her low 4:40s.
a strength based runner, like a valby, could possibly be 10-12 second range going from mile to 3k. but it's gonna be another 10-12 seconds going up to 5k.
She is very good obviously. Also looks like she is 25, how close to her ceiling do you think she is?
What does your opinion of how old she looks have anything to do with her ceiling?
One thing you obviously don't know about Jane Hedengren is that she dealt with a lot of injuries her sophomore and junior years, and even the first part of her senior year xc season she had an extended illness. For the first time, she is totally healthy and finally able to train hard for an extended period of time. She still has a long way to go before she hits a ceiling.

well, just looks very physically mature. Kinda like Efraimson in HS, never made it to the levels people expected.
I'm hoping for a Hedengren vs Engelhardt mile race this year.
Agreed - but gotta say, I’m not sure it would be close. Jane is the new Sadie.
Jane ran 4:26. Sadie ran 4:27. That's not a big difference. Also, Jane is better at running an even pace than Sadie is. If they both ran an even pace I think the race would be pretty close. In any case, it would be interested to watch.
Unfortunately, Jane is a Nike athlete and Sadie is with New Balance, so they won't run at each other's outdoor national meets, and Sadie isn't allowed to run at Arcadia because she doesn't run for her high school anymore. Maybe they will meet at Brooks PR?
Yeah I still have Sadie FTW if they get in a race together, her kick is very likely better.
Jane, like Jingy, will benefit in the paced races.
The unpaced championship style races will be a cat-and-mouse; Jane leading going into the bell will dial-it-back to save some for the kick. But she will try to hold off Sadie on the final two turns, and down the back-stretch.

…thus making Sadie work harder trying to go around. So by the time it gets to the last 50m, it may be too close to call, at this juncture.

So maybe 20 seconds?
That puts her around 4:35.
Some of the endurance monsters are more like 15s for 5000m. Guys like Bob Kennedy ran a lot of 1500m/miles (3:38/3:56) and then ran 12:58. Or Al Sal with his 3:45 and 13:11. Ritz is right there also but he didn’t have many miles.
But you don’t see stuff like that in HS a ton when people run all the events. For them 20-25s is a solid guess. Predicating stuff of doubles is hard. You have guys like GF doing a double a couple hours apart. Other people struggle to comeback a week later.
