A sign of the times that a very good runner like Blanks has run 7:29.72i, faster than an an amazing talent like Lagat ran indoors, and almost as fast as Lagat’s 7:29.00 outdoors.
I hear what you're saying, but Lagat never took a real shot at a 3k when he was in peak fitness. When Lagat was a 3:27 man he was also a ~7:23 man as well.
He was paced for 2K which is actually really good. Still backing up his sub-13, he’s in great shape despite balancing school.

Very accurate. He said in his post race interview that his thesis is due in two weeks. Kid just ran the 4th fastest 3k USA time and has a thesis due at Harvard. He looked effortless in his race today. I really like his chances in the 10.

not important in the grand scheme of things, but I'm also curious to see how Harvard defines their school records - do you have to be a member of the team or just an enrolled student? The current 3000m record is Blanks' 7:44 from 2023. Does this time replace that one?

In line with his 12:59, much better than his 3:36. I agree, good sign he’s gonna be ready for the 10. 26:55 would be great from him, 27:05 probably on the upper end of good.
