I was gonna say Fury Road, but OMG that was almost 10 years ago. How did that happen?

If you want to avoid duds, a good idea is just to go watch the Oscar best picture winners going all the way back to the beginning. I've seen all of them except about 5 and I've seen very few bad movies although some of them may be a little bit tedious. Since I've pretty much seen them all (and I'm not always in the mood for a 1930s movie), I started watching all the movies nominated for best picture and most of those are good too. Then I've watched a few where someone won best actor (e.g. The Father, which was a fantastic movie), eventually I'll watch all of those too. Mix in an action/sci-fi/secret agent movie once in a while and it's a pretty good strategy to keep seeing good movies.
To answer the original question, it's not the best movie in the last 5 years but if you want something kind of bizarre but ultimately worth a watch, Triangle of Sadness was pretty interesting.
Oppenhiemer.
The menu.
Sinners is probably my favorite in the last 5 years.
The Substance is on my list for worst movies of all time. It’s trash.
Past Lives, however, is wonderful.

Is that the movie 430 wrote about Nico?
Bones & All (2022)
Titane (2021)
Its all about prestige tv these days with movies just being standard big budget blockbusters.
A few good movies still get made most years.
Dune Pts 1 and 2 are great.
Challengers is a great sports drama.
Flow was a gorgeous animated film.
Oppenheimer was a great biopic.
The Fablemans was a great "awards contender" type film.
Can't think of much else that is must see. Stay tuned for Nolan's Odyssey
Sinners

This filmsfatale list is pretty questionable. A bunch of not so great movies included and it's missing several great ones.
Superman.
Camp Fred
Doodlebops Movie
Leave it to Harry Beaver
The Wiggles Movie
Harry Twater and Sorcerers Bone
Two Girls 1Cup
A Bugs Life
In Diana Jones and the Temple of Boobs
Kung Fu Panda 4
Dune(s) so much better than the 80s and later versions.
However, one under the radar I found interesting is Nope. Anytime you can combine a western with aliens, Im in. It was really different.

So many people are saying Oppenheimer, but honestly I very much disliked that movie. A long drawn out movie about a guys security clearance review……sure the one scene was cool to see, but it did not need to be three hours long. Just because Christopher Nolan directs something doesn't mean we all have to be forced to like it.
I tried to watch Oppenheimer. The long, non-stop, drawn out notes of the soundtrack were too much. Did that ridiculous music continue throughout the whole movie?

One of the most overrated movies ever. I didn't finish it either. Dune 2 on the other hand was fantastic.
