NAU men will run a DMR at the Alex Wilson Invite at Notre Dame later this month. they ran it last year and it was the most exciting DMR matchup of the season, Nico Young and Parker Wolfe ran the leg and Nico won by less than a second. i think there's video of it on Youtube.
Halladay-Lowry ran a 15:02 outdoors while redshirting outdoor season in prep for Steeple Olympic trials last summer so the 14:57 wasn’t really that out of the blue or a 40 second pr.
Ishmael Kipkurui in the 3k. This guy should turn heads every time he steps on the track. Still hasn't set in that a 8:09 2 miler and world u20 XC champ is in the NCAA
I don’t know how significant a 400 is in the DMR, but I noticed that the DMRs at Husky are literally the first event on Friday. Also noticed that BYU and UW have a split squad that weekend with their sprint group entered in New Mexico and the 400s are scheduled for Saturday in New Mexico. Is it possible both schools run their 400 people in Seattle then fly to ABQ that night, and race the next day?
so anyways back to the point of the thread. Bunnage hasn't run a mile/1500 in college yet and her PB in the 1500 is from way back in 2021 when she ran a 4:14. Wonder how close she gets to 4:30 if not under
The miles, 800s and top section of the women's 3000 are all on Saturday.
Stanford entries are Bunnage/mile, Willis/mile, Whittaker/800, Kennedy/3000.
The elite DMRs essentially kick off the meet Friday noon.
Have no insider info, but would love to see a Stanford lineup of Kennedy/1200 -> Whittaker/400 -> Willis/800 -> Bunnage/1600.
Believe this is a lineup capable of winning NCAAs. However, would likely mean one or both of W&W would scratch from their individual 800 races while Bunnage & Kennedy would have to scratch their 5000 race and just run the 3000 (DMR Friday, 3000 Saturday @ NCAAs).
Back to this weekend: Bunnage likely is capable of anchoring a sub-4:30 Friday afternoon then come back Saturday to run a sub-4:30 mile.
Bunnage at her best: since Kennedy is already at 4:32/mile -- and Bunnage is significantly better at all distances -- believe Amy has a 4:27 - 4:28 mile in her given the right race. Don't know if that race is Saturday, especially since she might be anchoring the DMR the day before.
If Amy does do the DMR/mile this weekend, it will be the first time @ Stanford she has doubled in a meet. JJ may be more cautious and not have her run the DMR given Amy's fairly recent injury history.
Again, all pure speculation. But excited to follow along on the live results stream.
Hopefully Cal Poly's Chase Walter doesn't scratch this time. He ran 1:16.1 at the start of the season, which was a facility record and top 10 all in the NCAA. I've been curious to see what he could do in the 400 ever since.

She also ran 15:03 I believe competing unattached last Spring which shows in her WA profile.
So there were several stops on that journey from 15:42 to 15:03.
Are you trying to correct me or actually agreeing with me in what I said, that her 5k best went from 15:42 down to 15:02 in six months time?
I never said her progression was unusual.
I would add that so did Valby have “several stops” on her journey in going from 15:20 to 14:56 (a process that took over 18 months time). Whereas, astro was saying Valby’s 14:56 came out of nowhere, while LAACTIC at the time indicated she was in that fitness (coming off of the 2023 cross-country season.)
