Why was Myers entirely unphased by the performance? Like not even a little bit excited... is it because he doesn't care about indoor times/records? Doesn't know about them? Has already run faster and doesn't see anything special in a slower performance earning a record?
Pretty crazy an Australian 18 year old running a U20 WR 3:53 and a 15 year old Kiwi running a 4:01 U18 WR the same day, different meets.
The odds of that happening a decade ago would probably have been rated here about a million to one.
Considering that in 2001, an American high schooler training with high schoolers ran 3:53.43 (Webb) and that a 17 year old Kiwi ran 4:01 (Willis), I'd say that no one would have thought it a million to one even if they didn't predict the rise of super shoes.
