The whole Greenland thing is just an "anything you can do, I can do better" wee wee measuring contest with Putin and Xi. Xi and Putin are privately very afraid of Trump because they cannot predict what he will do. So, Trump could actually score some Nixon-esque detente with Russia and China if he actually had the attention span to attend a summit and hammer out some new treaties. But he doesn't. Instead, Trump just wants to play the same game of taking territory for strategic and d#ck measuring contests.

It's already there. We already have a strategic agreement with Denmark. Also they tried to put more assets there in the 1960's. They abandoned the plan because it was inoperable/not worth it. We stand to gain nothing militarily.

You are wrong. For one, all the rights to natural resources, and the ability to commercialize them, would be gained. There is no agreement with Denmark that would give the US unilateral control over all of that.

The guy sees what Xi doing in the South China sea and gets jealous. The problem is what China has done has taken decades of building manmade islands that actually have a strategic purpose. In a moments notice, China could shut down sea traffic impacting half the worlds economy. And they have military locations that would let them take control of Taiwan in a matter of days. And there is NOTHING the world could do about it either economically or militarily. We're pretty much all reliant on their goodwill at this point. They spent decades building this capability.
Trump has NO ability to think that far in the future. So he just looks at the low hanging fruit in his sorry attempt to replicate China's ability to exert their dominance. And it's laughable to anyone that understands this. An absolute dime store imperialist.
