Also, to be fair, the main reason I got Stryd, initially, is so I could do structured workouts from TrainingPeaks on my AppleWatch. At the time, the Stryd app was one of the few ways you could do so. Turns out it was only because of a bug, because none of my workouts were power-based. Sigh.
I used Stryd for about two years. I liked it because it had a good iOS Apple Watch app. Then I realized the numbers are insanely inaccurate. Every single different shoe has to calibrated to a track and even then it’s wildly suspect.
i just use WorkOutDoors app with polar verity sense hr band. Sold the Stryd on eBay. Good riddance, agreed fake data.

Yeah. They *had* a good iOS/Apple Watch app. It's gotten a lot worse over time. Or maybe I'm just to curmudgeonly and don't like change.
On another fun note, despite *not* violating their Reddit community policies, they not only banned me for the 7 days, but they made it permanent.
If you have Stryd shares—heaven forbid—unload those, because there are children running that company who cannot bear to hear any criticism.
I love how, on their Reddit Community, their app developer claims Stryd's distance tracking is more accurate than GPS at all times.
Which is bunk—it's good, the best footpod I've tested, but I tested it out on a certified track with a certified measuring wheel as backup.
Compared to the Zwift footpod, Stryd was more accurate. It was as accurate as a Garmin Forerunner 45. But the AppleWatch 5 and the Garmin Forerunner 55 we had on hand was superior with their GPS.
Of course, bother to post something like that on their Reddit community and you'd probably get perma-banned. Lol.
I guess there is that policy on their community written in those invisible pixels which says "don't criticize our product or be banned."
I am thoroughly disappointed. I don't dislike the idea power—the numbers may be wonky, but if they stay consistent then you can work with it. And they had gotten it there.
BUT, more to the point, for treadmill or indoor running it was, hands down, the best footpod on the market at this moment.
It's a shame. Their hardware is pretty good. Even their platform—whether you agree with running with power or not—is not too bad. (I mean, as good as V.02's in many ways for generic, automated training!)
But they lock down all their community member's posts that even slightly lean into community support inquiries, trying to redirect them to their website. And they call their community members' questions stupid. (Mine was not the first on this topic. Likely won't be the last.)
It's really sad to see a promising run-gear company run (ha, a pun!) so poorly, with such childish leaders. I hope they improve, maybe get some advice or mentoring. But somehow I think they'd ignore any advice, or maybe ban the folks providing it.
I wonder how many accountants, lawyers, and bankers they've gone through so far?
As someone who trains exclusively by power, I love the Stryd pod. Personally, I've found it to be very accurate, but my stride length and cadence might be more in line with what they've tested against calibrated distances. Dunno, but I get 400 meters on a certified 400 meter track, in lane 1, just a few inches from the inside line.
But their subreddit needs a serious moderation overhaul. Not just Reddit, but their community forum also. They have only one rule in their sub, and that is "No customer support in this subreddit". It's draconian and asinine because their official customer support is laughable.
I have had problems with PowerCenter. When I first purchased the foot pod, I did not get a CP history for 3-4 months, despite my CP adjusting up and down as I trained. Reached out to support, and "we're looking into it" was the only response. Kept following up every couplo of weeks, only to get a response "we don't have a fix at this time". That was the standard response for a few months, until one day, behold! CP history! No explanation or follow-up to me from them that it was fixed or what the problem was. Every once in a while, a CP adjustment will get missed in the history chart still.
Now I'm dealing with a bug where planned intervals from Final Surge are not aligning exactly with what I executed, despite Final Surge pushing the workout to both my watch and Stryd. As the run progresses, the workouts get less and less aligned. See . So analyzing the workout in PowerCenter is meaningless until my execution of the intervals aligns with what was planned. Reached out to support, "we don't have a fix at this time". I've followed up once every couple weeks for the past couple months, and the response is the same.

Their customer support is anything but useful. Locking anything down that looks like a potential support question on Reddit and their community forum boggles my mind. They've been criticized for it too, but it seems they don't care. It's as if they don't want the community to help, and when you reach out to them, they can't be bothered to spend the time on it and provide valuable feedback.
Reddit mods are often little dictators. On r/sandiego the mod has some rules like no sunset pictures, don't discuss the padres for instance. On some subreddits, moderation teams are even worse than on letsrun as hard as that is to imagine. The only thing that keeps people from noticing is how fast discussion moves.
