Kerr has a faster HM time - and he isnt and doesn't claim to be a HM runner.
Kerr's mark was set on a blatant downhill course.
You didn't know?
Of course he did. No one ever has a justifiable reason for being better than the Norwegian god of running. I'm sure those who beat Ingebrigtsen also had a downhill course.

Do you know that running downhill is faster? Kerr's 61:51 is worth maybe 64 on a regular course.
When Kerr and Ingebrigtsen race a HM against each other, who will be the winner?
Of course, and that’s why he focuses on strength, just like John Walker, Steve Scott and many others.
Walker had a kick.
I don’t think you understand distance running at all. Walker had a kick until the Brits showed up. His kick against Ovett in the 1977 WC 1500m, included stepping off the track with 150m to go. Ingebrigtsen wins championship 5000m races compared to Walker not being able to keep up with the leaders in the 1984 Olympic 5000m.
If Ingebrigtsen and Walker went head to head, the pace would have to be north of 3:40 for Walker to have a chance.
I ask this having no idea how much speed work he does or doesn’t do. However, I have 3 observations:
1) He seems to have a soft spot for the 1500 and runs it often. I think he wants to be known as the best 1500 runner ever.
2) He is a time trial machine, and imho far and away the best in the world in a rabbited 1500
3) He is almost always beaten in world championship 1500s due to his lack of kick. 2021 Olympics were an exception due to the hot pace set by someone else.
4) As far as I’m aware, he hasn’t run any races shorter than 1500 in the past 4 or 5 years.
Should he do a training cycle or two focused on 800 or even 400 training? I feel like his aerobic base is so huge that he wouldn’t lose much in a few months of 800 training. He could even break up the shorter distance training with a week or two of aerobic training to touch back on his strength if needed. I feel like if he became a 1:43-1:44 800 guy he’d be unbeatable over 1500.
If I was ingebritsen and wanted to add the last tool to my 1500 toolbox I’d definitely be thinking about something like this.
Who cares? By 2032 he will have 5-6 Olympic Golds, every WR from the 1500 to the marathon, and multiple marathon major wins.
He’s not getting the marathon world record be so for real
I agree that the earlier poster was snorting stuff however he did win an Oly gold in dominant fashion last year. Also the half marathon was 3 days after DL final and 3-4 months of 1500 specialist work. I doubt any other current 1500 guys could have gone faster at that point in the season.
Kerr has a faster HM time - and he isnt and doesn't claim to be a HM runner.
Starting at 2000m, Ingebrigtsen is faster than Kerr, and the gap will increase with the distance. Obviously, Kerr can’t beat Jakob at 3000m and 5000m, but with your bizarre hatred of Jakob, you believe that Kerr will reverse the trend and somehow beat him in the HM.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen (born 19 September 2000) is a Norwegian middle- and long-distance runner who is the current world record holder in the short track 1500 metres, the 2000 metres and the 3000 metres, and holds the world best...

Jakob loses championships because of his stupid insistence on running “honorably” i.e. from the front, not because he can’t kick. Make a speedster like Cole lead at a fast pace for 1400m and he’ll get dropped the same way Jakob did in Paris. When you run that way, you make yourself the only one who doesn’t have a pacer. It’s a massive disadvantage.
Tactics are his problem, not training.
But if he doesn’t lead and no one else pushes the pace and the field goes through 1200 in 3:00, do you really think he’ll out kick Cole, Josh, Yared, Hobbs, and Laros in that scenario next year?
Keep in mind I’m not saying he can’t out kick any of those guys in that scenario, but what are the odds he out sprints all five in a slow race.
Realistically his best bet is to let Yared take the lead and hope he pushes the pace, then wind it up 500m out. That still may not be enough though, I think Kerr may just have his number in championship races and obviously Hocker can do something spectacular on the right day too as we’ve seen.

He doesn’t control Nguse. Nguse might take it out at 2:00, or even go full Centro.
Jakob has a decent level of 800m speed (1:46) but he is more of an aerobic runner compared to Josh who is this lactate tolerance machine. Jakob reminds me of Silas kiplagat. Silas only runs fast times off a hot pace but he can't sit and kick like Asbel kiprop after 2007. These guys have more speed-endurance than top end speed itself. Of course they had to maximize their basic level of 800m speed and anaerobic power in their junior years before neglecting it when they run a certain time (Jakob ran a 51.03 400 before his 17th birthday hence he had 400m/800m potential).

dude... you still going wrong like a weirdo on these boards Armstronglivs??? you seriously need to go to see a mental health therapist and get the f$%k off these boards... you have serious real issues irl

Ingebrigtsen's course was also down hill. Otherwise he would have run 67 minutes. But everyone who is faster than him is running downhill.
The one thing we can be sure if is that if they meet Kerr won't need to walk it.

Walker had a kick. Ingebrigtsen doesn't. And you don't have a clue what a kick is.

I just pointed out he has a faster HM time than Jakob. And he's not even a HM runner or even a true distance runner. But a lot of runners are faster than Ingebrigtsen over a HM.

Starting at 1500m.
Kerr has 3 straight wins over Ingebrigtsen and on the biggest stages. But then we are seeing other runners also getting the measure of Ingebrigtsen in his best event. His time could be over. Sorry, Jakob.
