Ok, but you're not thinking in terms of training load i.e. intensity + mileage. I can drop mileage and increase intensity and be at the same training load or I could do relatively high mileage for my level and less intensity because the demands of the event are aerobic in nature and that is the training at which I would get the best bang for my buck.
