Simple solution - don't go there. They don't want you as well. Keep the rivers and beaches clear for those who appreciate them.

Poverty can be anywhere. When some people think of Florida, they only see the beaches of Miami or Orlando golf communities. How about Carol City or Liberty City? Or Starke - home of the Florida state electric chair? Be it the Midwest, Deep South, or West Coast, there are great areas and depressed areas. I take it you make vacation trips to Gary, IN.

I'm not sure what constitutes and "American" car anymore. My wife just bought a Subaru Impreza. I imagine most of us think of Subaru as a Japanese car but hers was made in Rhode Island. Most of us think of Ford as an American car but when Trump put up tariffs in his first term it was the end of the Focus because it was made in Mexico and Ford decided there wasn't enough of a profit margin because of the tariff.

New Bern is a bustling metropolis on the cutting edge of ideas and innovation compared to Plymouth, Robersonville, Gates County etc

yep agree, taking hwy. 17 from Virginia Beach/Norfolk thru New Berm and Wilmington there are some nice small towns along some of the old river crossing but the rest is just like any other rural American country side...try southwest Georgia sometime up hwy. 27 from Tallahassee thru Columbus...going up to Atlanta.

Worst city planning I've ever seen in New Bern. They surrounded the entire historic waterfront downtown with government housings.

Lumberton is a rough azz area

The rich people in those areas are descendants from the plantation era.

The peanut farms and land are still owned by the same families and they still have decision making power.

The poor who work for them still call owners "bossman"
