Mu is heartbreak of the year? Even if we ignore Kiptums death I would say Girma hitting the hurdle was more sad. He wanted it so bad and worked so hard and it seemed like his best chance and I was really saddened by it even though it probably ensured that Rooks would get Oly silver.

Tragic deaths aside, I’d have to say Lamecha Girma’s crash in the steeplechase was more heartbreaking than Mu’s fall.
No chance. All of the Ethiopians ran like fools, including Girma. The only reason Rooks was in contention to medal was the idiotic Ethiopian slowing of that race during the second kilometer. At that point traffic jams and outsider presence were guaranteed. Roll the dice and end up on your face. Girma was so scared of being out finished by El Bakkali again he turned it into a free for all.
I thought it was a very good article, especially the big picture tribute to Faith Kipyegon. The only thing I don't understand is what took so long. IMO she was already clearly the #1 female in track and field beginning in 2016. Then I watched in bewilderment year after year as she was often high single digits in the world best rankings, both subjectively and numerically.
Give me a break. It was always a classic example of class over speed. Not until those 1500 global finals happened to evolve into mad dashes did Kipyegon begin to receive the credit and plateau she warranted all along.

Do you think that is not true?
I'm hoping that he isn't saying that my post was stupid, but instead echoing that the post about Hocker losing some post-Olympics races is stupid.
