The kid should be doing a "feed the cats" type of program. Forget the 800m, at least until College. That would be fine fine if he was a 47-49sec 400m runner, but at 44.2, he needs to focus on getting his 200m down as far as he can, while in HS.
You heard it here first- he is going to take a big step back this year. Pressure, running form, growth spurts and his coach overrunning him will take it's toll. Who doesn't here think that his coach is using these kids to get himself a bigger job.
why even do it if he’s gonna jog it? No hate just curious cause he looked very out of it - high school meets aren’t the priority wouldn’t it be better to save his legs?
Maybe because he's running an individual event at the armory this morning?

Misinformed post as usual.
Quincy ran fewer races than most collegians last year and definitely fewer races than nearly all high schoolers.
Nothing about him was overrun so there is no toll to take.

feed the cats is so overrated for anything except keeping unmotivated kids interested in running.
with proper periodization, he can get as much max speed as he needs without doing a feed the cats thing. And it's never too late to develop speed. Fred Kerley was a lifelong 400 runner who transitioned to a 9.76 guy in his late 20s. Bolt was a long sprinter as a teen, who easily and quickly transitioned when his real talent shone through.
The best will always work their way towards where they are meant to be. Unless of course their best event is longer than they need to or want to run..

Just ran 1:17 for the meet record and the win in the 600 invitational.

It did indeed look like he was out of shape. His first lap basically kept pace with his teammate, but he was progressively dropped. Also, by the way he didn't acknowledge anyone after the race made it seem like he definitely wasn't happy with the run.
When was this race? Yesterday?
I know he ran a 1:17 600m this indoor season, # 2 all time and he crushed his teamate who outran him in the 800m leg in this race
