Galen has been running with two labrum tears since 2019. The guy is just trying to be able to run again after his hip surgery this year, to already be cranking out 2:50's at altitude is testament to his drive and is a hell of an effort for a guy coming back from as many big surgeries as he's had in the last few years. This is the first time he's been able to run pain free since 2018. If he can stay healthy, he has still got a lot left in the tank, he's still incredibly mentally strong and the injuries haven't eroded away at that which is the bigger issue so as long as he keeps coming back, you can't write him off

Except he wasn’t cranking out 2.50 k. Not criticizing Rupp. Just some facts. He never ran further than 800.
How many other workout videos has Rupp done? The only others that come to mind are post race workouts such as the one after BU where he didn’t really have a choice about being filmed. Would love for him to open up and do more of them.
I watched the video nothing crazy. You just don't know how much work they have done prior, like this could be a double for them.
Takeaways
Bosley looked the best as he should, he is the only one actually racing before March I imagine. Hopefully he gets back into form. He looked good though.
Rupp might be washed at the elite level, his form still looks amazing, I bet he was thinking during the workout if only he could go back 10 years to smoke these guys. Also the 4 time Olympic prompt annoyed me - Rupp is a full-natty (some sarcasm) American distance goat with a silver and bronze medal.
Nico was there just to not get fined - probably not racing until the Ten race for the world's standard

Nico said on a podcast he'll be running the indoor season, maybe some shorter distances to work on his speed. could be wrong but I remember someone saying his Olympic effort qualified him for worlds so if thats the case I don't see any reason for him to run the 10.
Bosley still has eligibility with NAU for indoor/outdoor. he's never won an individual championship, maybe like Nico did last season he finally gets one.
not sure about Rupp, but he seems determined to give it one last shot. life is short, I wish him the best. he volunteers as an assistant at NAU, perhaps he eventually goes into coaching full time.
Yes, fair enough. I guess I knew he wasn't "officially retired" but because he is working commentary and not racing, that is sort of like he is "kind of retired" in the sense that his actions speak louder than his words.
Whoever thought this video was a good idea and remotely good needs to get out of Track for life.
I couldn’t finish watching it was so bad
Yeah, he seems to get great access but it’s lazily put together. He needs to go back and look at the early Flotrack stuff. The athletes talking before and after is key. The coaches explaining where they are prior to the workout, the point of the workout, thoughts during workout is what most want to see. Watching every step and every split is not interesting.
Big fan of any and all running content where we get to see elite talents like this do their thing under the guidance of a top notch coach. Drew Bosley is looking good which is especially nice to see

He was injured and had surgery so that’s why he was doing the commentating.
at his age and the time frame for which he is not too far removed from surgery, this was a great sign that he is still mentally there. Until you do workouts at 7,000 ft you won’t understand how difficult that is. He had to be doing some form of cross training up there to keep some fitness to be able to hang with these guys. He just needs to stay healthy for a good year which is not easy at his age he just has to keep adjusting to his body and how it needs more recovery. I would hope he’s taking three days easy between workouts and getting 2-3 solid sessions in every 10 days.
