My condolences to his family, that's gotta be a crappy way to lose someone. Not sure what the motive here would be, if you're disgruntled with coverage, killing the CEO isn't going to down the whole organization. I use them for coverage through my employer, so kinda selfishly hoping it doesn't change coverage on my end (I doubt it, someone new will be CEO and the world will keep going)
United is pretty well established to be one of the most aggressive companies at denying coverage for as many services as they can reasonably get away with do yeah, for your sake I guess I hope the continue refuse to pay for required services.
Is this true? Why would they even report this? I feel like an idiot but I am not even sure how to look up what you are saying.
United Heathcare rejects something like 32% of filed claims, far more than almost all of the other major insurers, which as an industry averages a 16% rejection rate.
So yeah, it's a leading edge company that specializes in making money by seeking ways to not cover patients' medical needs. One could call it blood money.
This is the way of the Oligarchy. If the Oligarchy hasn't hurt you, it just hasn't hurt you yet.

They recently started using AI to deny claims, and anyone with a functional brain should know AI in its current form is 90% marketing to create value for the companies developing it.
Multiple news sources reporting he was under investigation for insider trading.
UnitedHealth appears to be making huge profits off Medicare Advantage - a scam where the insurers are permitted to make a diagnosis, then bill Medicare
My bet, they chose to deny coverage for something that the shooter believed would save his wife's / child's life. They are now dead. I applaud him taking out the CEO rather than some pencil pusher who only enforces policies they have no influence over.
Yeah but let's be real. It was probably the wife that set it up. The shooter knew exactly where and when he was going to be.
He was there for a shareholder meeting - public knowledge. Then call the hotels in the area and ask for a particular guest until you find which hotel they are in.

The hotel is not supposed to reveal the name of a guest.

People complain about medicare fraud until they realize what it takes to prevent it. But go ahead, blame the company that tries to prevent it because who will defend them?

OH NO! Who will think of the insurance execs? Rending of garments and gnashing of teeth!
It will be interesting to hear more details about the gunman’s motives.
That said, business executives are soft targets as most don’t travel with any real security that would deter a determined shooter. Unlike movies, they don’t have 20 former special forces operatives guarding them and willing to die for a paycheck and dental coverage.
