But you are just bitter and jealous. And a sad little man.
I managed to not bin my car into a rock, thus rendering myself deceased, before reaching the age of 25, I'm quite certain I am not jealous of someone that was unable to accomplish the same. The guy had a .16 BAC and was still walking and talking like he was sober when he left the party, that tells you exactly what their tolerance level was from excessive EtOH intake. References to Pre should be one of a cautionary tale rather than the illogical deification that currently exists.
Even his Wikipedia page is a whitewashed version of the truth.
"He was killed in an automobile crash near his residence in Eugene, Oregon at the age of 24."
He wasn't killed in an automobile crash, he killed himself by crashing his automobile. There is only 1 line at the very end that mentions the fact that he had a .16 BAC. It says "His blood alcohol content was found by the Eugene Police Department to be 0.16%. The official cause of his death was traumatic asphyxiation. No other injuries contributed to his death."
No other injuries contributed to his death, however, there were certainly other factors that did, one being that he was shytefaced, crashed into a rock, flipped has car on himself and was pinned/entrapped/crushed until he stopped breathing.
Not jealous of any of that.
But Pre accomplished more in 24 years than you will in your entire life. So that leads to your bitterness and jealousy. You need to get over that.

Pre is likely the only athlete in history to ever drink and drive.
You don’t need to idolize him to know he had the sort of mental tightness and tenacity which would have rendered you unworthy of carrying his jockstrap.
what jockstrap?
Fact is, guy who wins the USA college champs a few times, and his fans think he's a world beater, goes to the world champs and LOSES
... doesn't want to crawl back and say well, at least I can still win the national college champs.
If he wasn't dead, from his own drunk driving, he'd blame the dozens of fans who got him thinking he was a world beater. He was just some ignorant kid from Coos Bay and you told him he'd be a superhero
Still wondering which part I am supposed to be jealous about.
You are an arrogant prick. You don’t need to admit the jealousy. It emanates from every word you compose. If you are indeed a 50 something year old man who is getting off on trashing Prefontaine, you have failed at life. Your 3 houses are impressing nobody.
Still wondering which part I am supposed to be jealous about.
Professional runners and track fans (and you don't appear to be either) can thank Pre and other amateur athletes who lived in trailers for fighting for our sport.
Anyone can lie about owning 3 houses in SoCal from their parent's basement. Maybe you should start talking smack about Dave Wottle next to get that sweet, sweet dopamine shot.
why do americans get so excited about Pre? he is a nobody outside of american and never won anything. if he were around these days, he would be a like Stewy McSweyne - a lead out man before the big boys start racing

The untold story of Pre is more complex than what has been reported by the msm. His name is chirped, howled, and grunted by forest creatures both near and far for his unselfish actions in saving the woodland community. Unfortunately, while Pre identified as a Duck, those in the Beaver community took umbrage, and fowl :) play was surely afoot on the evening in question (per se your honor).

I own two houses and could get a third if I want one. I'm actually thinking seriously of doing that. I'd happily have lived my life in a trailer like Prefontaine's if it would have gotten me into an Olympic team let alone a fourth place finish. Most people eventually manage to own a house and quite a few manage to own more than one. Almost nobody can make an Olympic team.

He got 4th at the Olympics as a collegian.
He was 28 though, high schoolers and collegians were all old back then. That's where BYU got the idea
