Like Kiptum, he negative split on his debut/at an intense Pace.
he was ahead of everyone by minutes and sprinted towards the end.

Drugs.
I suggest you learn some deep Physics. It’s much harder to call Sawe’s performance one due to drugs without any relative comparison in space and time. You don’t immediately call him a doper on his first foray into the marathon as also because outstanding debut performances in the marathon has happened before on both Mens and womens side. It’s called ‘1st strike immunity’!!
Mateiko seemed to really push 1-2 km way too fast. I wonder what those splits were. I think Sawe just maintained because of the crazy acceleration and then had his own acceleration when he saw Mateiko faltering
Sawe won in Copenhagen only because kiplimo hit a curb in the middle and got stuck crossing it and lost time there. I wouldn’t call Sawe the true winner in that race. What he does have is endurance but not so much speed as he has so far failed the 10k and to some extent the HM. He is not as fast as the slew of Ethiopians and lone Ugandan. Again he has good endurance which will serve him well Kiptum has much more speed though strangely never had the chance to attack the HM world record.
Why do you say Kiptum had more speed…? Sawe won Copenhagen I’m sure aided by that mistake but I see no conclusive proof he wouldn’t have won anyway. Being fast at 10K beyond 26:49 and HM beyond 58:00 doesn’t seem to be required to hit the 2:01 type times.

The next Kevin Kiptum, I don't know. I think Kiptum would have eventually ran a non sided 2 hour marathon. I think Sebastian maybe the next fastest thing in the marathon. Let's see if he improves ANY at all in his next 2 marathons before throwing that heavy and big label on his name as the next Kiptum!
I wouldn't equate Sebastian Sawe to Kiptum yet too .Kiptum was an extra ordinary athlete both in terms of raw talent and the kind of crazy training regime he was able to subject his body to.Sawe is indeed one to watch.
As for Edward Cheserek ,it is good to see him doing well despite his tribulations with the American citizenship process.I guess his wife Sharon and himself are now the world's fastest couple in the marathon event.
It was a great debut from Sawe, his tactics were impressive. Reminded me kind of of '22 Valencia. Mateiko tried to run like Kiptum while Sawe ran more like Mutiso. Mateiko couldn't run like Kiptum and Sawe did significantly better than Mutiso but I saw some parallels.
2RunningTeam is really incredible, I think this is there team top 8 list, men's marathon:
Can't compare him to Kiptum yet. One good run, will need him to be consistent. Remember Sissy Lemma ran 2:01:xx but did not run near that time at Valencia.

There is stronger than usual proof that he might not have won as he was up against the strongest and toughest clean runner on the planet the world XC champion and HM record holder then. Also a superb 5k speedster and 10k accelerator!
sawe who? What has he done at the shorter distances to rival Kiplimo for speed? Kiplimo is still much slower than Jakob , Kerr, Aregawi and kejelcha. Sawe really benefitted from that mistake my Kiplimo on the curb as they were side by side running together.
the thing with Kiptum and sisay is that they were never really started out as 5/10k runners so we never know. But what we do know is that every world marathoner record holder in history were sub 26:xx and sub 12:4x athlete and sub 59 at least HM or faster.

Agree sisay is nowhere near as consistent as Kiptum. And he also does not have ‘1st strike immunity’ like Kiptum and sawe once had.

You forgot to mention that king ches only ever flourished every time his race comes immediately on the back of immediate block of training in low or lower electromagnetic pollution environment in Kenyan highlands surrounded by crisp greenery and more oxygenated air and food. You can tally it up yourself. I remembered he ran New York marathon and flung that race last year and where did he live and train? USA!
thankfully RFK is going to change the USA environment and make it more brilliant for quantum biological health!

It’s way too early to say he is the next kiptum. Kiptum had a much more efficient gait than sawe too. Sawe does not have as much ‘give’ aka modulus of elasticity in his coil and recoil than sawe. Sawe looks to be running at his elastic limit and will lose efficiency the moment he increases tempo. Kiptum is still coiling and recoiling with ease at al his finish lines! I was a distance running coach once so I have a very keen eye. 😀☺️

Happy for Edward Cheserek, the KipRun group has been doing pretty well recently. Perhaps bodes well for, Paul Chelimo, rumored to race Malaga Marathon in a couple weeks? He and Sharon Lokedi are very good but I think the unofficial title of fastest marathon couple might be Tamirat Tola (2:03:39) and Dera Dida (2:19:24)

I would like all LRCers to take a good look at white DNA Grant Fishery and black DNA Paul Chelimo side by side. Analyse carefully their space-time intervals. Think like a Physicist or Biophysicist. I’m not forcing you if you can’t be one.
Chelimo had his peak in 2016 and was on a decline thereafter till this day 2024. Grant has his peak in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, keeps getting higher and higher level.
Is Grant Fishery more talented than Paul Chelimo an East African? I think we all know the answer. Paul’s DNA is at least 10 ten times stronger and more durable than Grant Fishery but yet it is the latter that is strangely running down the house?
how is that possible? Paul was without drugs all the way while Fishery’s alibi is drugs. That’s how we do space-time analysis at Physics, it’s not just running and training, there is a lot more to it. You don’t explain everything just by training or coaching. Space and time is more than that.
