I’m a washed up shell of the runner I used to be but dusted off the old shoes for a local 5k in Franklin, MA and had to pass a local stud lady on the last stretch of a very hilly course who ended up in 2nd in a very respectable 17:34 for a legit 5k
2010 Silicon Valley Turkey Trot 5K Pretty cool. Three loop course, see 'em three times.
1. Alan Webb 13:36 2. Galen Rupp 13:39 3. Scott Bauhs 13:47 4. Diego Estrada 13:50 5. Scott Smith 13:51 6. Aron Rono 13:52 7. Jordan Horn 13:52 8. Michael Kilburg 13:52 9. Kevin Chelimo 13:56 10. Brett Gotcher 14:03
Maybe he didn’t want to take AlSal’s dope, taking a chance of getting caught, after getting away with his summer of 2007 run of 6 weeks 3:30/3:46/1:43. After that he ran like a guilty criminal; couldn’t do it without the help of the dope; showing a conscience.
Willy Fink won my local Turkey Trot (8K) last year in 22:50. (Won again this year but not quite as fast). Susanna Sullivan was the women's winner this year.
Not quite at the same level but Tom Dalton took the overall win as a Masters athlete multiple times in the early 2000's at my childhood hometown Turkey Trot 10K. Craziest thing: his age-graded time at age 42 was almost exactly equal to the still-standing course record that he set 20 years earlier.
Was looking at the results for my turkey trot this morning (Prince William County) and saw Cooper Teare won by a couple seconds over a couple guys I assume are college runners. Clearly just there for a little workout but had me wondering who’s the best runner you’ve ever seen at your local turkey trot?

That explains why he dove even deeper into hardcore Christianity. The guilt.
Back in 2012, Robby Andrews surprisingly showed up and ran 14:10 for my local 3 mile Turkey Trot, the Lou Marli Run. Even more surprisingly, he lost to a non-pro (a former D1 5000m guy) who dropped him on the final stretch and won in 14:04. In most years, 15:xx is good enough to win, so it was cool to see that level of competition at such a low-key, nondescript local race. I also recall Andrews getting roasted on this site for losing to a “nobody” (though ~3 miles was well out of his wheelhouse).

It was always odd to me that Webb quit Salazar when he was doing a good job getting him back in shape. Perhaps he felt "dirty" doing it his way.
I remember this being a promising result early in the Webb-Salazar relationship, but that it was also clear from the get-go in the 2011 indoor track seasom that Webb was still not himself (despite this result clearly indicating he was fit).
