No. You didn't answer anyone's questions. You didn't provide any additional details. Why were you limiting XC previously and now increasing? You are literally the only D1 school who will increase roster spots.

Lol...no we're not. I think it's funny that you think I'm making this up. I'll try to spell it out for you I guess. Here's an example:
School has 50 on their swim roster and now has to cut down to whatever their minimum is. Baseball has 40 on their roster but is cutting down to their minimum. Soccer has 35 on roster and has to cut down to 25.
No idea what their numbers actually are, but let's say that these sports cut a total of 30 athletes. It's not crazy to bump xc up 5 spots. Now the school has a "full deck" for all of their sports and netting 25 less athletes. Assuming your title 9 numbers are favorable (ours is basically 50/50) you'll get a full men's team. It also helps that we don't suck so our AD believes in us.
People just assume whatever the SEC is doing is what all schools are doing. A lot of mid majors will benefit in Olympic sports because they can do every other sport more cheaply.
I don't need you to believe me, but this is what our athletic department is moving forward with. I feel very fortunate to be in this position because it really is kind of "luck of the draw."
Larger cuts are being mandated to women's sports. So you either really don't know what is coming are more likely are just a random guy posting.
Lol nah I think you're the random guy posting. If an actual D1 coach is telling you the situation for their program and you won't accept it then you never will.
Most D1 coaches I talk to not in the SEC are being told their women's roster will remain between 15-17 athletes. For some programs who roster 30-40 xc runners this is a major change but for programs like ours we actually have to add 2 spots to get to 17. I know this is hard to comprehend for you but it's simply what's happening in real life.
Rumors are that the other big football conferences are going to follow the SEC numbers. I am friends with a Big 10 assistant and they are convinced that the SEC limits will become what their conference and the Big XII will adopt in a year or two.

Right now most Big 10 schools are planning on different roster caps, but I could definitely see these schools try to match what the SEC wants. Thankful I'm not at a football school.
Women's mandated cuts in dozens of sports are huge. These are available for all to view. This is merely a fact. You are trying to argue with facts.
I'm just telling you what our actual situation is at the school I coach at. Again, I don't really care if you agree with me because you have no idea what you're talking about.
You have provided no details regarding your fairytale school. I have merely asked you to describe how men's XC would increase while your women's sports are all being cut in numbers.

From your own article:
"Many schools are preparing to increase scholarships significantly. According to several power conference administrators who spoke to Yahoo Sports, programs are planning to spend $3-7 million in additional scholarships each year, some of which ($2.5 million) can count toward the annual revenue-sharing cap, expected to begin at or around $21.5 million."
Maybe try asking directly what details you're looking for because you aren't making any sense. I feel like I've described everything and you just don't know how to read.
This article is from July. Did you even read it? It seems like you don't understand what you're reading which would make sense since you don't understand what I'm saying either. Maybe someone else can explain it to you.
None of OUR women's sports are being cut below the new roster cap numbers. Same with our men's programs. No programs at our school are being cut. We are still saving money because we have overall less athletes. How is this hard for you to comprehend?
Not to break your brain, but did you know that not every school is going to even opt into this settlement? That means they won't be affected by the roster caps. That's also in the article you didn't understand.
I'm done respond to this because you're obviously trolling at this point. Well done getting me to respond this much already lol

Just to be clear, we are saving money by having overall less athletes but we are still paying out our settlement too. I'm told we're breaking even until that's fully paid off over 10 years.
I will ask the question since you don't seem to understand. You are not cutting women's sports below the new numbers but the new limits are significantly below what schools were allowed to and were previously carrying. If you women's track team and cross country team and soccer team and volleyball team and rowing team and golf team and softball team all have to cut 5 women, that is 35 fewer women's roster spots. But you are claiming that your AD had a revelation about men's XC in midst of all of this. He decides to increase the men's XC roster spots. ut you haven't answered how the heck he can do that while he is forced to cut 35 women's spots. Now please try to answer. You can't.
My kid runs for a competitive mid-major with a large distance roster and the coaching staff recently informed the team that some high school kids who committed for Fall '25 will no longer have a spot, and those seniors/5th years that have not progressed will be talked to on a case-by-case basis.
Go to TFRRS and look at any number of mid major D1 programs and you will see the roster size and how that will 100% be impacted. Portland Men alone are at 51. They could keep them at that number but it will change:
17 xc, then 45 track, but to stay at 51 6 of those XC roster spots won't be on the track roster.

and of course 34 runners won't be allowed on the XC roster
Honest question - what prevents a program from having 20+ athletes as part of the xc/distance squad, but only declaring and scholarshipping the maximum allowable amount (10 or 17 or whatever) each xc season? The rest basically train/race like a walk-on redshirt. I assume this is how track roster will be formed (even if a school carries 10 or 17 in xc, they would only roster some of those for track, not the full 10/17).
