Hartman definitely could win, 6th at Pre Nats is strong and her losses this year have been to the Clemson trio and the Alabama/Tulane superstar(s). Could see any handful of Hartman, Jelelgo, Kosgei taking home the win, with Gapes, Chepngetich, Kennedy in the next tier, then Chisholm, Brown, Alanis, Covert battling out the top ten. Names to watch to surprise could be Zofia Dudek, Amy Bunnage (if she runs),Margot Appleton (if she runs) and Angelina Perez among others (FSU etc.)
team wise I don’t disagree too much with that order, although Florida state could place in the top five.
I agree that ND should be the favorite, but I would not throw dirt on NC State quite yet. The only 2 that ran well at pre-Nats were Hartman and Gapes. I see the Freshmen having a bounce back race and I also see Rauber in the top 5. I'm not counting out Stanford either. Should be a great race. I'll be there cheering on the Pack.

What struck me about Pre Nats is how conservatively the 4-7 runners started out, and how 3 of them were able to move up. Still finished far back, but I wonder if it was an intentional strategy. It seems to me the 3-7 runners need to try to stick with the 4-7 runners from ND and see how it goes.

Tuffy!
Thanks for your input! You mean Rauber in the top-5 for the squad? Or top-5 overall in the race?

For the squad. Also expecting Fiona to have a bounce back race.
It’s still so strange to me that Stanford (a west coast school) is competing in the ACC. It’s mind-boggling to me.
indeed. Also Cal and SMU. how much do those charter flights cost the school?
Not to mention the men's race starts at 9:30am, which is 6:30am for guys flying in from the west coast. So they have to fly across the country and then they have to wake up at like 4am and race at 6:30am. I think that's an under-noticed but huge disadvantage. Not starting the race at noon is a big middle-finger from the ACC to Stanford and Cal!

i can't imagine that they haven't been in Raleigh since yesterday at least, possibly tuesday. This is something west coast schools are used to planning for.
Plus its going to get up to 80 in the area on friday, need to hold it earlier for better running weather.

They flew out yesterday. I'd take mid 70s (OMG, how would anyone survive!) at 9am on my body clock over mid-60s at 6:30am. It's BS, don't make weak excuses for it. Even an 11am start would level the field more. Race should have been moved to Saturday too. These are student-athletes in a non-revenue sport and they have to miss 3 days of school? That's ridiculous.

Do you have any more pre-race excuses you’d like to get on the table?
I'm trying to figure out how to watch this. Does anyone know if the ACC network can be streamed through youtube tv?
if you live in the conference footprint generally you can stream acc network coverage on any provider hulu/youtube/cable etc., If its accnx coverage or if you live out of the footprint you can stream on espn+
