Coogan is a women’s coach and the dullest personality ever to coach pros. I hope Wolfe is smarter than running for him in Boston. Nothing is good about training in Boston for a woman’s brand. The one dude he coached at New Balance was a compete flop.
I had a team mate run pro and had a meeting with New Balance. Granted this was a while ago but he was basically told we sponsor athletes to sell things. Distance men don’t sell things. Fast, attractive women? They sell lots of products for us.
They follow the money. The New Balance line up for years and stayed PRETTY consistent.
We just published a Q&A Jonathan Gault did with Coogan on their signing of Valby and their team's 2024 campaign as well as goals for 2025. It concludes with this quote from Coogan.
I think we’re really lucky to have her (Valby) and we’re excited and I know New Balance as a whole, the company is excited, and hopefully she keeps getting better and better and represents the US well, New Balance well, and herself really well. Now we should try to get the other Parker. I want the other Parker now, Parker Wolfe.
Why not form the nucleus of a male training group around the Blanks/ Wolfe duo? That could be the New Balance equivalent of Hocker/Teare. If Wightman's contract is up after the olympic year, they could have some money to work with. He's not getting renewed at the same rate with his age and recent injury history.
