I’ve been pretty consistent doing 5-10 miles per week this year with a couple breaks
my times are all very bad but they are vast improvements over how far I fell in the years following high school. I haven’t run sub 23 since 2021, I haven’t run sub 48 since 2020, and at the end of 2023 the best mile I could run was a 6:56.
Drink less alcohol, smoke less weed, get a better job, and get out on the roads more than once every two weeks, you’ll feel a lot better.
this is around the age I stopped being a lazy blob. keep up the good work. small goals go a long way. I'm almost 43 now. probably averaging 15 mpw this year. I had gotten to around 35 pounds over racing weight, but have settled to around 15 lbs over for the past 15 years. which is probably functionally healthier than actually being at racing weight
Have had a terrible last few years of racing. I have a low 15s 5k PR and in the past calendar year have failed to break 19 in the 5k and 40 in the 10k. I have no idea what is going on with me.
As a 46-year-old hobby jogger who started running in my mid 30s I don't think I've done too badly this year:
1500 - 4:59.5
5k - 18:10
5 miles - 29:55
10k - 36:47
Half marathon - 1:21:10
Marathon - 3:02:09 (this race was a bit of a disaster)
Not sure if I should be impressed or incredulous. You're basically the same pace at 5k as HM? Hard to buy.
It's not that close. 5k time is 3:38/km, whereas half marathon is 3:51/km. Percentage calculators seem to prefer my 5k time. Using 2020 factors the 5k is 77.94% and the half is 77.41%.

Wouldn’t it be less believable if all his times were perfect equivalents? Maybe the 5k was run in bad weather, or at a point in the year when he wasn’t in 1:21 half, or he just had a poor race?—and it’s not like it’s much worse for a 46 year old hobbyist anyway.
Given the nature of the question, someone could say they ran an 18:00 5k and a 35:00 10k this year and it should be perfectly believable.
Lots of Allegations going around regarding Tim Walz sexually abusing young student(s) when he was a teacher
I don’t know about any of the recent allegations being made, but there was a foreign exchange student who publicly talked about the sexual abuse he suffered from Tim Walz.… pic.twitter.com/ILouzbnGFf
