The big question in the men's race is whether or not Washington State's Evans Kurui is for real, and how will he fare against Texas Tech's group of Kenyans, not to mention NAU and Notre Dame's top runners?
You are the second guy to mention Texas Tech, but they aren’t even entered in the meet??
You are the yet the third guy associated with this thread (including Fan Out West in his linked post) mentioning Texas Tech. Either I’m looking at the wrong information for this meet and they actually are entered, or you guys are confusing Texas A&M with Texas Tech.

My bad, I’m the idiot here; I was looking at entrants for the Gold races instead of the Blue races.😔
“Notre Dame Students with a valid Irish1Card & proof of fitness can compete in the Open Division Race for FREE.”
For some reason, an idea for a “dreams become reality” feel-good movie idea came to mind when I read the above statement. It would be about an unsigned Notre Dame kid training hard over the summer, then showing up at this meet, running in the Open Division, laying down a time that would have made the top 5 in the Blue race. Maybe the kid’s name would be “Rudy”.
Origins of the meet date to 1956 when the first Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational was held. Distance then was 4 miles. Increased to 5 miles in 1968. Name changed to Joe Piane Cross Country Invitational in 2015 in honor of ND's t&f/xc head coach for 39 years. Meet has always been held on the school's Burke Golf Course which opened almost a century ago.
Adrian Wildschutt/FL St ran 23:06.7 for the 5-mile course record at the 2021 Joe Piane Invite. Probably went through 8k in 23-flat or a bit under.
As mentioned in earlier posts, construction has forced Notre Dame to alter the course significantly, so this year's races will be firsts for the new course, including the new 8k distance.
I haven’t been able to find one. Sad because there are ranked teams running.
If you follow a bunch of the teams and run through their Instagram feeds once the race starts you might find a feed.
Big money in college XC. Biiiiiig money.
Seriously though, anyone know which school will have someone running around live-streaming from their smartphone for Instagram? UVU does it, they can be the only one.
