Those companies run in spite of Elon, not because of him. Especially SpaceX -- giving Elon credit for the work of the engineers is hilarious. Elon has provided capital and not much else.
He is far more engaged and integral than most CEOs
As a car lover, I hate it, but the Cyber Truck is a success. It’s god awful looking, but it’s capabilities are objectively impressive and more importantly, it’s selling. No normal engineer came up with this vehicle, that is material come to life through the vision of a strange genius billionaire, and it actually works.

The cybertruck is a beautiful and incredibly unique car.

The cybertruck is an homage to everything that is wrong with American transportation and its infrastructure.

No it's not. It's a truck. Let me guess, you think we need to ride bikes and choo-choo trains everywhere, and can't fathom why an American would ever want a truck to haul a boat or something.
The left's turn on Elon is a bit wild. He runs multiple billion dollar companies. He was integral in the formation and sale of PayPal. He is successfully launching and landing rockets with SpaceX.
He is the first person in the US to successfully challenge the Big 3 American car companies with Tesla, and I think the market cap is larger than those 3 combined (last time I checked).
Yes, he's blunt and maybe a little arrogant, but he's one of the few that really back it up.
I'm not sure how I feel about this role, but there certainly is a lot of waste in the US government. I completely understand why half the country hates Trump, but I don't get why they hate Elon except for the fact the he associates with Trump.

Then how come Blue Origin, Boeing, NASA etc all failed to achieve the same capabilities.

Americans do not need a pickup truck that can go 0-60 in 2.6 seconds that weighs nearly 7000 lbs. There is already an epidemic of pedestrian deaths in the US and larger, heavier vehicles are one of the primary reasons for that. Never mind the danger it poses to people in other cars. 40k/year preventable deaths via automobiles, about as many as guns, and we're doing nothing to fix the problem. In fact, we're making it worse.
Let me guess, you think that arming teachers will stop school shootings, don't you?
From what I've been reading and seeing is that Cyber Truck's capabilities as a truck are not very good. It's ground clearance is low, gets stuck in mud and loose terrain, and doesn't carry that much .

I care about MY safety in MY car. I drive a SUV because it's safer for ME in an accident. I'm thinking about buying the cybertruck in a couple of years because it'd be incredibly safe for the driver, ME.
Lol. The cybercvck, aka, the wank panzer, is by far the objectively worst vehicle to be sold in America on decades. And it's not even close. There isn't a single truck thing it's capable of, they constantly brick themselves, insurers don't want anything to do with them (giga casting hur dur) and it was like 5 years late.

I don't disagree with you here, we don't need a truck like this. However, Rivian, Ford and Ram also make very heavy, very fast trucks, and people want them. I thing d0uchbag every time I see a Cyber Truck driving down the road.
My point is only Elon would think of this and he was heavily involved in the design and manufacture of such a wild creation in response to the argument that he just funds these extremely valuable companies. The Tesla 3, however, is undoubtedly a fantastic EV at a reasonable price point, while being much greener than it's internal combustion competition. Yes, it's also too fast and after many track days I know what happens when fast cars get in the hands of untrained drivers.
This is just an example of one side undermining someone who doesn't agree with their politics, and you simply can't make a good case against Musk. The right does it too with the likes of Bill Gates, and it unfortunate that is the world we live in. We love to hate, and it's not healthy.

I’ll grant you that Elon is involved in his companies’ operations. What I’m saying is that the commercial or operational success of those companies is often in spite of Elon. Especially at SpaceX.
This was Biden and Obama's administration: putting people with no real experience, only 'book smart' folks. And they failed.
Biden didn’t even do that. He threw qualifications out the window and appointed people to positions based upon their race / sexual preference / gender identity. The American Rescue Plan prioritized identity politics over economics and inflation was the cost. The inflation Reduction Act had nothing to do with inflation and was just a meaty government bone thrown to the green lobby.

Don't forget that they get the crap scratched out of them by raccoons that mistake them for dumpsters.

While pedestrian safety is a valid concern, and I don't care for these trucks either, you're not putting this genie back in the bottle. People like driving trucks and the industry is going to provide them with trucks they want, whether you want them to or not.
