No one cares about the 5000m. 1500 is the blue-ribbon event. 1 1500m gold is worth more than 5 5000m golds. And there would still be more to come for Kerr, while everyone knows Jakob would never win another championship final in the 1500m with his lack of speed.
Jakob will win another 1500, don't worry, and of course 5000m gold worth equal as 1500m gold. If you think more to come for Kerr, than even a lot more to come for Jakob, because he is little younger and a lot better.
Second, what does adding up to 8 have to do with anything? Would you rather finish 1st and 7th or 4th and 4th? Would you rather finish 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, and 2nd, or just 8th?

Okay, sure... Fermin Cacho's 1500m Gold is worth more to you than Geb's 5000m Gold?

Thats the real answer! I won the world championship/ olympic gold! Vs. I never won but I was really good?
To the track nerd, it may make sense to choose the more consistent finishes? Most would argue they have more respect for Nick Willis' career than Centro if we polled this Board? (and to the insider NW technically has won gold, lets be real) But feet to the fire, I'll take centro as far as shopping than gold around. Its nice to have a super bowl win rather than a bunch of 2nds and 3rds. Ask the cleveland browns.
