Didn't Arop run a 1000 a year or two ago and just die in the last 200? Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Yeah he was a pacer, and went through 400 in 51.x and 800 in 1:45.46 before fading to 2:14.35, still pretty strong. But it’s also important to consider his 800 PR was 1:43.26 at that point and now he’s run 1:41.20 and 3 straight 1:41s.

I don't think he was a pacer though. He just died badly. The announcer called that out about 100 meters before it happened - very knowledgeable.
He wasn't a conventional pacer who agrees to drop out, but they announced that he had agreed to set the pace but he was going to attempt to finish anyway. I think it was set up for Wightman to run fast, but then Wightman held back and then ran him down in the last 50 or so. I think Arop has improved his fitness as well as his pacing and tactics since then. I would assume someone else will be pacing this one.
The guy is using Noah’s CAREER as a sample size, obviously. You are just another true believer who munches on the EPO fueled shorts of cheats like Ngeny.
Well that’s dumb. It’s like saying you know Jakob is on EPO because his 800m PB is bad.
Disingenuous. He was KOd every time he ran against legit 1:43 runners in open races. That says a lot.
This is so brain dead. Ngeny split 1:44.62 in his WR (after coming through 400 just under 50) and still held on for a 27 to break 2:12. This is literally impossible for someone with a 1:44.49 PB. I don’t doubt the guy was on drugs, but he was capable of at least 1:43 if not 1:42.
If you look at the top rankings of 1000m you'll notice a pattern like what OracleofDelphi was alluding to:
1) 2:11.96 Noah Ngeny
2) 2:12.18 Seb Coe
3) 2:12.88 Steve Cram
4) 2:13.08 Taoufik Makhloufi
5) 2:13.49 Ayanleh Souleiman
The top 1K guys tend to be world class in 1500m / mile (sub 3:30, sub 3:50). Obviously Ngeny with his #2 all time 3:43.40 mile, but Coe, Cram, Makhloufi, Souleiman are all up there. Of these top five only Coe is a 1:41 guy. Others are 1:42-1:44ish.
Arop is #4 all time at 800m with 1:41.20 but only is 3:38 / 3:57 at 1500m / mile. I think with proper pacing he has a shot, but will only take a couple tenths of Ngeny's record given his PB at 1K is currently 2:14. Worst case he's 2:12 or 2:13 which is still an amazing time.
Rudisha, despite being 1:40.91 at 800m could only manage a 2:19 1K. However, he was more on the speed side, and since Arop already is a 1:41 low AND a 2:14 guy, he certainly has a shot despite his less than ideal credentials at 1500m / mile.
Worth noting that Arop's current 2:14 PR was run indoors earlier this season in a WR attempt. He fell short but still ran #2 all time, faster than Kipketer and Morceli.

Not exactly. Arop ran 2:14.74 indoors this year. His 1000m PR is 2:14.35 from Monaco 2022.

Yeah the other guy is a moron. No drug, not EPO enables someone to split their 800m PR or even +1s and continue going for another 200m. If it were that powerful, he could take his speed and run 3:24.xx, not 3:28. Just like El G and Lagat were not really 1:46 guys, and if you think otherwise you lack brain cells

Why in the world would a volunteer moderator delete this post? Unless there is something about the username that is flying over my head, this is a fine post.
To all the Arop doubters, do you realize he's #2 all time indoors at 2:14.74?

Will he break Noah Ngeny's 25 year old record? At 7:40pm when race is supposed to start weather appears to be 80F, overcast, ~60% humidity.
Any links to a livestream? Would love to watch this.
