Heard the entries had some sort of issue and the US is having to fight to be included in the mixed 4x4. World Athletics fears repeat of Paris where US won 34 medals and looking to stop US at every turn.
Is this just speculation, or is there any confirmed info about why there's no US in the mixed 4x4?
Two Kenyan dark horses, but not the two Norwegians with better PBs: Håkon Moe Berg 3:37.25 and Andreas Fjeld Halvorsen 3:38.32??? Moe Berg is in pretty good shape, BTW.
Don't forget Yan Ziyi in the women's javelin: at the age of 15, broke the U20 world record this year but wasn't allowed to compete in the Olympics because of her age.
Anyone watching the women's 800? I'm curious how heat 2 went (won by USA Sophia Gorriaran in 2:07.43)
I saw it. She did a nice job, very composed. Took it out near the front conservatively before putting a little bit of word to get the inside line. Then did enough to hold the lead and looked smooth nabbing the heat win as the second-placer tried to sneak by in the inside. I think it was 64-63ish?

It went out at around 1:04 high and came back in 1:02 mid. Abed tried to dip on the line to beat her, but she had the better positioning throughout the race.

Thank you for the recap. I figured it was an easy run based on the times in the heat but it was close for 1-2-3 so I wasn't sure.
Anybody having trouble watching the live on WA’s site using VPN? I’ve tried switching it around to a few countries that do not have local broadcasters but it still doesn’t work.
Its crazy how dominant the two Ethiopians should be in the women's 5000 with 14:16 and 14:34 PBs, next fastest is at 15:20. I think this will be a theme on the women's side with Ethiopia dominating
Caught up on the 800 heats, no Czech 1:44 man Dudycha. Alongside Craig and Ochiai, I think Qatar's Hatim Ait Oulghazi could be a medal favourite and gold medal threat

Good callouts. Eisa and the next group of Africans look 3-4 years younger than the other Ethiopian. I know looks can be deceiving, but it’s striking. I’m particularly skeptical of the ages in the Tsegay stable.
