If this course is short, then the boys seem to be similar to the Rocky team last year, and the girls don't look to be in contention to beat Jesuit/Lincoln
Apparently CDA did their time trial. 2.5 miles on the track
Their top boy ran 8:44 through 2 miles. Their #4 boy is injured and may not be back this year. Their #5 ran 9:20 something through 2 miles. They will get beat up at #5 this year if Rietze is out to injury, but I'm guessing they had at least 3 boys sub 9:10. They return their #2 or #3, #4, #5, #6, #8.

Worse than last year.
Heemeyer is better than Lucas, Lucas last year is better than Tuft, Tuft last year is better than Goggins, #4 and #5 aren't better combined than Richardson and Jensen. Plus Rocky was way better at 6 and 7 last year. JV looks thinner than normal. They don't appear to have a guy that can make the jump to varsity. Likely this is their top 7.
These Speed Ratings are considered UNCERTAIN, but I think they are in the right ball-park ... Being early in the season and little competition for Rocky Mountan, the margin of error is high and assumptions & guesses must be used to to estimate these speed ratings ... I think they are OK for background data moving forward. The numbers could be a few points higher or lower ... The top runner (Cody Lucas) is pre-season projected to have ratings in the mid-180s ...
Other Rocky Mountain runners seem to have improved from pre-season estimates and the team may be better than my tied for #6 spot in the Northwest Region rankings ... A team to watch going forward
Very unlikely that any Washington teams go to NXN, but Sehome and Kamiakin look pretty legit. Kamiakin does really well at the end of the season and this year they have the best team since 2019; they return almost everyone from last year. Their #1 is a senior who has been #1 on the team since sophomore year and he has an older brother who was part of their 2018 & 2019 NXN teams.
Issaquah also returns most of their boys. If Mcintosh is healthy this season they will be one of the top teams in Washington. Though Issaquah seems to not perform to well at NXR relative to their state performances.
Arlington also returns a strong team. I think a Washington team has a chance of breaking into the top 3. But they are outside shots.

Binder is past his expiration date. Writing that Owen Powell “blew up” side obviously not only wasn’t at the race but didn’t even watch the race online when Powell does a somersault downhill when tripped up. Kid ate it faceplant fall and jogged it in with his buddies.

Why do they let Binder contribute at all?
One of their great contributors Erik Boal is now contributing for YouthRunnerMag. I guess that means he left Dyestat?
Nate Stadtlander from Meridian ran a course record of 15:37 last year (2023) Same course Stadtlander is already committed to Oklahoma State.
*Nathan Green ran 16:30 here in 2018 *Max CS won this as a Sophomore in 2022 in 16:03
So yes, 15:12 is smoking fast for this course.
The big surprise is that CDA put 2 in front of Stadtlander (Zach CS 15:26) and almost 3 (Wyatt Carr).
Nathan Green would also happily run races to just win and crush people over the last 400 or 800. I wouldn’t use times from him unless you are looking at efforts that he clearly ran hard on.

I agree with this take ^
While we shouldn't be saying that these guys are the next Nathan Green, it still is very impressive, and the speed ratings agree.
