Isn't it ironic? The guy that demolished the myth of African natural advantage, and who proved that Europeans can win clean, has lost his own dominance of the 1500m because of better testing in Kenya.
And when it comes to Jakob -of course he needs the medals. Or else he would be tried to be belittled by guys like you -that’s just how the world is, and he knows it. But just listen to everything’s he is saying as a-whole -clearly not a mind set fare from mine. But yeah -just my opinion…
You heard it here first guys, Jakob only attends the Olympics because letsrun would make fun of him if he didn't. When he talks about being pride to represent Norway - that's just a lie, he actually is just scared of public opinion. When he says that his loss will haunt him for the rest of his life - just a lie, he actually cares about the Diamond League time trials way more. Do you even hear yourself? Would you say this to Jakob in person? You're a clown.
Fisher gave a very sensible answer regarding whether Jakob should switch to 5000/10,000. He said no, because the 1500 is the glamour middle distance event while the 10,000 is being phased out
Guy is a legend. He doesn’t want to be in the pack with a bunch of losers. He’s the king, out-front, in the spotlight.
This thread has revealed the sad circle jerk losers of Jakob haters. Some random guy makes a thread of things he didn’t say, and they are quick to jump at it with no source 😭🤣🤣🤣

Yes, I would be a clown if I used that wording. Of course Jakob thinks champs are fun (even competing in Euros) and he loves to compete man to man. (Even dived to win in an un important DL). And yes, I too is pretty sure he’s proud of representing Norway -not because of the nationalistic things, but probably because he too thinks it’s fun that a guy from a tiny northern nation can do well in an event with spares homily merits…
I’m not a spokesman for Jakob, we may view some things differently. -No problem for me. But my guesses are (based on Jakob’s maturity and ability to view context and reality) that he too thinks this: His own gold in the 5000m is way inferior to Cole’s in the 1500m, because of fast vs shabby time, fierce competition vs not so much in the 5000m.
And yes, we know Jakob wants to win a lot of medals “to stop the talking” as he says. And I’m also sure he would love to spank his competitors man to man as much as he can in races as well. And yes, he doesn’t like to lose, especially if it’s unnecessary and his own fault -he’s a perfectionist. And of course he like all of us goes for prestige. But if you think this is all you haven’t listened to what he stresses in interviews after interviews: That he prefers fast races (times), and winning honourably and dominant! (I’m really looking forward to see him in fast 1500/3000/5000meters -hopefully against the best…).

So he's effectively saying that those who beat him didn't do so "honorably".
Yes, Cole, Josh and Yared didn’t run the final honourably in the ideal meaning of the word! But as always there’s a context:
1. It wasn’t at all their fault, because Jakob didn’t give them any opening to put in their part of the front running work.
2. When you are an underdog you are allowed to act like a parasite. And all three medalists had to be considered to be that before the race, and even after, because in my view (that of course may be wrong) Jakob would have won the race if he had run the first lap a little slower.
3. Jakob himself doesn’t always run his races honourably (which he clearly acknowledged in the interview) -he therefore obviously respects that his competitors not always do neither (especially in this race where the opportunity was closed).
4. There’s a clear danger that Cole, Josh and Yared don’t become the best version of themselves. But my guesses are that at least Cole and Yared understand this, and will put in the necessary lead work (at least when Jakob isn’t in the race) to get themselves honourably prs and times. And even Josh seems to get (as his 3.45 mile showed) that sometimes he must do his part to get out his own potential into times). There are two very clear “fates” that should scare every athlete from not running honourably most of the time (something one have to do to get everything out since one cannot rely on an better athlete to be there and do all the work for you -it take only one single cowardly race on the day of your best shape not to get it all out!): Mo Farah and Steve Ovett. -These two athletes never ran a good race in their whole life (although they raced very well, and Farah even ran two good races in his off event 1500m). So they’re not on my top ten list, but who knows what they could have done if they had tried to run honourably in their top shape! (For their own sake; the times that prove their fitness -I hardly see any fight ln these boards for Mo being the goat, not even the guys who keep saying medals are everything. -A few good times, and he could have changed everything…).
I’m a Jakob fan -but the same applies to him: In my opinion he’s not a proven good 5000m runner -in all three global champs wins his competitors haven’t been on their best. Not near. And champs are clown races (especially the 5000/10000m in hot weather) -Jakob’s best 5000m is his 12.48 DL win that showed some potential..!
Champ races are seldom honest. The real and honourably races are the one with lights and pacers (ideally without, if everybody took their front leading share, but that won’t happen): Pacers are mimicking competitors that take their share, and are therefore honourably.
Times are everything, champs nothing. But my full respect to Cole Hocker (because he ran a 3.27 in the best possible way given the circumstances that day)…
Elliott, Snell, Walker, Coe and even El G all beg to differ. Times aren't everything - winning is. And leading from gun to finish doesn't do it, with the exception of a certain David Rudisha.

Didn't read this wall of text because if we try to make this statement true (which is what you are trying to do) then only one person can run the race honorably. What a dumb thought.

What? 2021: Tim rabbited him to gold, and it seems Jakob thought he won somewhat dishonorably and hasn’t wanted to replicate that by letting Tim/Kipsang lead since
2022: Tim and Kipsang both try to lead at multiple points and Jakob goes by and fights them off at multiple points because again he wants to win leading the whole way
2023: He allows Kipsang to lead a bit, but prefers to lead and thus goes by when Kipsang had led his heat and prelims
2024: Komen had led his races early (slowly) and indications were Tim of Yared Nuguse intended to lead a decent pace if Jakob didn’t, but he wants to win his way and blasts the thing from 100m in
Testing does not come into this. Jakobs race plan does.
Jakob talked about this in the 5000 post race press conference. He didn't say it exactly as OP puts it, but some of the pieces are there, and he did say he doesn't do that every time.
here is video. should be time stamped to where JG asks him the question about changing his strategy for the 1500 in the future
The OP isn’t too far off. He basically says he’s not going to change tactics and front running is the honorable way to run, which is how he likes to run.

He has a bad racing strategy. I guarantee if he had just stayed back in all of those finals after 2021 and pushed later on in the race, he would have won all of them. He is stuck in his own head when it comes to this, or maybe he just doesn’t care and prefers front running, who knows..
Funny, he seemed happy to sit and kick in the 5k. Does that mean he is a dishonorable runner in the 5k. Was his 5k title need an asterisk next to it in your book?
Abby D'Agostino should have kept her maiden name, a noble Sicilian name denoting a lineage going back to Augustus. She traded that for some English commoner who fixes barrels.

Yes, and a certain Cheruiyot in WC 2019. But front running has it’s down sides and vulnerability (as all strategies by the way)-one should probably be a little better than the others, and execute the pace well…

Oh no -both Josh and Jakob ran honourably in the 3.45 mile. Jakob even made a point out of it afterwards… (how seldom it is done).
Pre: "What do you call hanging back the whole race and then stealing it in the last 50 years!?"
Bill: ..... "WINNING!?!?"
Pre: *huff* ..... *turns his head defiantly* .... "Well, I don't wanna win like that"
all jokes aside this sentiment is rich coming from Jakob given he LITERALLY RUNS EVERY 5K LIKE A KICKER LMAO
Jakob didn’t run the WC 2022 5000m like a kicker. And he said before the current 5000m that his ideal was conserving energy before a last 1.5km (honourable he probably meant) burn out / front running…But he also has to adjust to reality and circumstances like everybody else…

fisher said that so jakob wouldn't compete in the 10k and reduce his medal chances
