Still feel bad for those poor, tortured Duke lacrosse players?

what is your point about duke being near less than great neighborhoods in durham? ever been to yale, columbia, upenn or u chicago? it's not exactly unique to duke. you "would not live there"? give me a break have you ever been there? it is absolutely gorgeous and has some of the best weather and running trails in the country. you further show what a complete moron you are by referencing "the case in Bermuda right now." i think you are referring to the missing girl in ARUBA. how a high school dutch kid who probably had something to do with an american girl disappearing in a foreign country has anything to do with duke lax is beyond me.

My thoughts on Lacrosse

I'll quote a friend of mine from college who was a HS school AA baseball player when confronted with the notion that "All-American LAcrosee Players" were true All-Americans..

He scoffed "Yea..All-American..it's played in about 4 states"

The notion that All American LAX players are the same caliber athletes as Football, basketball or track for that matter...How about Xavier Carter playing Lax..

I've heard people state it was stupid for the stripper to have not brougt abouncer, I agree...even more stupid is a bunch of White Duke students (46) sending violent emails, hiring a black stripper, having sex with her (consensual or not) and not expect the strong possibility of being accused of gang rape? These are the best and brightest? Our country really is in trouble

I feel bad for the innocent people who were just attacked and beaten on the street near the lacrosse house by people making references to the rape. Of course, this follows the rumors that people were planning to shoot a white person in a random drive-by shooting on the same street which prompted an email to the Duke students to be careful. This is the news that gets covered up. I've lived in the area for 6 years - I can count on one hand the number of times I have gotten out of a car in downtown Durham. If you have a death wish, it's a nice town to visit. If you need to go there, wear your body armor.

We had lacrosse but not football at my school. We also have crew, golf and skiing. So clearly, football All-Americans are not much. Rather, golf is where is at.

Seriously though, in my area people couldn't care less about football, soccer & bball are the big things. Lacrosse is more up and coming, with several schools, including mine, adding teams in the last few years.

Ahh for once, not about CU! Don't know if I have said it before on this board but I truly believe this shee-it goes on at every school. Just some get caught. Doesn't make it less of a crime for those that get away with it, that's not my point. Just think it is impossible that one or two or even just ten schools in the nation might attract "bad" people. They are everywhere at every university, athletics or not. There are complete f*ckups on every sports team, just as there are awesome, genuine, hardworking kids on every sports team.

I wouldn't be surprised. But if that happened, how would the situation change? Would the city still get so much sympathy from the rest of America like it is enjoying right now? Either way, LAX players get off DURHAM burns down DUKE and theres a riot, or LAX players guilty no rich people go to DUKE in future years, DUKE'S money dries up, economy shrinks to nothin' in bo'DURHAM, then theres a riot. EITHER way DURHAM is worthless and DUKE is screwed.

Still feel bad for the rape victim. It is not tortur to be a rapist, it is torture to be raped. The Duke lacrosse players get to go to Duke, play on a team, are issued free spandex, and can afford to hire strippers. If they weren't violent, sick psychopaths who felt entitled to hurt others others might be jealous of thier position and future. The coaches, athletic director and univeristy administration should all be fired. I'm sure Duke could find people that, even tacticly, would not encourage this behavior.

Durham is so trashy on second thought, that the people there would further dig themselves into a collective hole in their anger. Racism and the stories it causes, wow historians are gonna be like "where ghetto dwellers really that dumb" and unfortunately we will have to conclude, sadly, yes.

He will be a star in the lacrosse community . He will have no problems getting dates. That is what is sad.

I agree 100%. I was as SU when they were national champions in lacrosse. Not impressed by those kids at all.

According to the warrant, the alleged victim told police she believes the players used false names and falsely claimed to be members of Duke's baseball and trackteams.

Nice, eh?

I don't feel sorry for any DUKE player at all based on what has already been established as having occurred...

1. Stripper hired to perform at University owned housing.

2. Underaged drinking on University housing

3. Sexual contact occurred as medical reports revealed vaginal, anal and oral sex. Whether this was consensual or not is currently at issue.

4. Violent email circulated from teammate preceding this incident.

Here are teh scenarios of what might happen..

1. Team keeps silent, rape did occur, nooen is convicted...teammembers have reputations smeared...but noone went to jail...they got away with rape...punishment less than suiting for crime

2. Rape did occur, some main rapists sent to jail, reputation tarnished...justice served.

3. rape did not occur and alleged victim lied...noone goes to jail. Smeared reputation and lives of privileged youth are appropriate punishment for items 3 and 4 above...

as far as innocent till proved guilty, that only applies to criminal issues. As far as teh whole team getting tarnished for the acts of a few...happens all the time..we are in fact judgely heavily by the company we keep and we should be.

leave it up to a lawyer to state that the Mcfadden email was consistent with the team repmise that no ses occurred...

This is reason enough to hate Lacrosse....

Intersting to point out that my college team to this day still functions as a Men's AND WOmen's team, trained together, travelled together etc...This was true for swimming also.

I can't help due to my profession and training from underscoring the homoerotic underpinnings of this incident..think about it..46 young fit men..who live together, shower together...they need to pay strippers to get women to attend a party...perhaps no other women wanted to attend an all male revue..

This sort of thing goes on in Blacksburg every weekend. They just have the police to cover it up.
