I'm as big a Hassan's fan as you can get, but if she really wants to push the limit. She should focus on getting gold first, unless she's confident in getting at least 2 golds this way which made her triple in Tokyo all that impressive in the first place.
I mean she just ran a 2:13 last year. She has what it takes to win in Paris. It would be a shame if she goes home with just a bronze or a silver, or even empty-handed because she wasted her energy in the 5k and 10k.
ok, I was being an idiot.
You’re not being an idiot, but what Sifan said is, I think, just an example of what most runners do all the time… we lie to ourselves. E.g., “this hill really isn’t happening,” or “I’m going to stop after the next interval.”
Her, “I just want to finish” is just an extreme example of something I think we can all relate to.

This is one of many reasons we love Sifan Hassan.
I think Sifan realized late the Paris parcour is way more steep and hilly with high temperatures to come on Sunday morning (Eliud couldn't and Abdi couldn't handle it on Saturday), having tired legs from the 10k, it's plain human and logic to think you're happy to only make it in the the marathon.
