12th place in the actual footrace, but 1st place in the hearts of the peoples of the world. She will make people join hands just like Coke did in the 80s.
I’ve broken the athletes down into two tiers, listed with their Season Best and Personal Best times (SB/PB):

If Sifan makes it to the finals of both the 1500m and 5k, I’m not putting her in the top 10 of the 10k. Not so sure if she will start the marathon the next day after the 10k either. I don’t think people understand the mental/physical toll of quadrupling at the Olympics. We saw a bit of that light in 2021 when she did that triple and how long she took off afterwards.
This scenario is set up perfectly for the haters. No matter where she finishes, she’ll probably get dragged here.
I'd say *reasonable stretch goal. Weini Kelati is definitely on a different level. It would take a big step up from Valby or a bad day from Kelati to change the order there.

Kelati is a 14:35 / 30:33 / 1:06:25 runner.
I understand, but she’s 27 and didn’t surpass Valby’s PRs until THIS YEAR. So, I think she’s closer to her ceiling, and Valby is a bit of an unknown since she’s never been pushed to run a fast 10,000. I don’t think there’s as much of a separation as you’re suggesting.
She could eliminate poverty, hunger, and win the Nobel Peace Prize and some turds would drag her for using ARC trainers and not running high mileage while accusing her of doping. That’s the kind of sh*tbirds that LRC actively encourages to generate clicks.
I am keenly waiting to hear how she eliminates poverty, hunger and wins the Nobel Peace Prize.
No matter what place, she has already had one of the most spectacular years of Running by a man or woman in NCAA history. Making it to the Olympics is a bonus at such a young age for a distance runner for the U.S.A.
Several athletes are qualified via cross country, I think she'll beat most of those. A handful of people will have bad races for various reasons. I'll say 16th place.

Hopefully Valby’s injury has settled down and she will give a noble showing, as she has to this point.
Why are we talking abt Valby when we should be talking abt coach? She is the remote controlled car, but coach is doing all the hard work....reading the race, throttling and braking, etc.
That said - top 10 unless she hits up some raves the week before.

Why so much attention for literally one of the weakest members of our track team? 70 % of our team is made up of medal contenders and we are focusing on a girl who's best hope is to not get lapped.

She’s injured?
In the latest Clayton Young training video Ed Eyestone claims she has scratched.
There were immediately one or two LRC threads started about the comments made in the video seeking more information that were deleted by the moderators.
What is going on and why are we not allowed to talk about it?

They were talking about the 5K. If you watched it, you should have been able to figure that out, so I’m assuming you aren’t very bright.
