Then let me just announce to you the end of Jacob. There is no blessing when your father is feeling like that and you still turn your back on him. It’s even a curse from where I come from🤦🏿
He had one of the best seasons of all time in 2023 without Gjert.
A season is always thee work of the coach of the last season. however if this one ends great (mile wr, double oly gold) it will all be him (with the good habits his father forced into him with a hammer from the age of 10).
jacob has been separated from gjert for around 30 months now. he was solo in 22 and then his breakout 23. so last season was built on the back of his own coaching from 22
This is cringe. Gjert should just be upfront on if he feels he's been wronged, not write these cryptic stupid IG posts.
Yes, but it's undeniable that Gjert laid the groundwork for Jakob's phenomenal success during Jakob's formative years..
No one disputes that. Everyone reading his post is a track fan and knows this. That doesn't make it OK for a middle-aged man to post these things like a morose 7th-grader.
All this because he tried to be fair and train his daughter. Didn't work and it blew up the family.
Gjert is a psychopath that used his children for self-realization purposes. No amount of olympic medals can bring back lost childhood or replace love of a father.

This is incorrect. Science has proven 2 Oly-golds cure any and all childhood trauma.
Interesting to see almost triple the negatives to my correct post that Jakob has not won a gold in the 1500m since leaving his father as trainer after Tokyo. He was second to Tefera in 2022 World Indoors, lost to Wightman outdoors, lost to Kerr outdoors, and didn't compete in 2024 World indoors. So, it is just a fact that he has not won the 1500m since leaving his father. Where people may disagree is why. According to Jakob, he lost 2022 World indoors because he had COVID (testing positive); he lost 2023 World Outdoors because he was sick; and he lost to Wightman in 2022 Outdoors due to not pushing hard enough before the last lap. So, he blames illness for two out of the three losses. If illness is just a natural incident that cannot be prevented, then it has nothing to do with his father not coaching him. But Gjert was famously controlling of his athletes and eager to prevent them from coming into contact with other people and getting sick, to the point of preventing them from much social contact, having them wash their hands after most interactions, and demanding that they always get plenty of rest. Because those things do in fact help prevent or delay illness until after crucial events, you actually could attribute his getting sick at Champs to dropping Gjert as a coach. Moreover, you could attribute his loss to Wightman as well to a failure of coaching, failing to give him the proper tactical setup. Losing to Wightman could be attributed to firing Gjert, since he obviously lacked the proper tactical setup to put himself in the best position to win without a fit Timothy Cheruiyot or McSweyn to push the pace. Hence, the loss of Gjert as a coach could actually help to account for his failure to win a World 1500m gold since Tokyo.

Just to add to that, he didn't compete in World Indoor 2024 because of injury. But with Gjert, he never was injured for a major championship and he might not have done whatever it was that got him injured (for instance, not doubling back to back at Prefontaine in the 3k after a 3:43 mile the previous day), so it is at least possible that Gjert would have made the difference in all four World championships since Tokyo in the 1500m in which he did not win gold.
He didn't really want to train his daughter and in fact in one program or more she complained about him not spending enough time coaching her, spending all his time on the older boys.

Interesting approach.
1. Jakob was as a matter of fact sick also during Gjert’s coaching regime. F.ex he had to drop his Bislett Diamond league start in 2021. But also several other races were afflicted that year and some other years…
2. Gjert says he never meddles with his athletes’ tactics in races. So why would Jakob have won WC 2022 with Gjert as coach when the tactics would have been the same..?

A lot of Norwegian coaches are really different from some American ones -even with Gjert as a coach it would have been Jakob that decided every important thing when it comes to training and racing. And in Norway that wouldn’t even make Jakob an outlier. (And don’t be fooled by the Team Ingebrigtsen TV-series. -Gjert liked to pretend he was a dictator, but in reality it was very much a team work from early on. Why? Among other things because Gjert didn’t have a clue about coaching athletics, and therefore had to do this in a dialogue with among others his sons..!)
And for the record: Jakob had a lot of injuries also in Gjert’s time.
