Soooo many mircroaggressions from Parker, but I love it.. my wife says she definitely is ADHD.
I wrote on the another thread that I think there is some degree of neurodivergency.
I think a lot of the faces were being pulled at the coach who was telling her to wait, when she wanted to go, but although she's clearly intelligent, there is something that is not absolutely mainstream.
What happens when she goes pro? Will she get the Caitlynn treatment for a bit until she wises up? Anyway, hoping 1) she stays injury free to see what the true potential is and 2) she doesnt drive the same way as she ran last night on the track :).
I almost made a thread about this but theirs enough Valby threads already.
she does give me Caitlyn Clark vibes and I feel the Olympics trial will have a “WNBA” sorta vibe with her racing the Pros. I do believe that the race will not be fast so Valby will have a good shot but when she moved with 1600 or less to go she will have a crowd going with her or if she is following a pack it will be a solid group. She is not going to be the fastest 1500m runner in the 10k field but good thing is she has been practicing her best race strategy of making the US team and that’s a long drive home

I don't she will because she won't be dominating like she is now.
2) Whether they are going to beat her or not, they should have the chance to compete without a fellow competitor horsing around
3) It does not matter if it is her or someone else, racers should pay attention to the race
4) If someone who is ugly as a shoe tread tripped you and your race was ruined, I have a feeling you would understand
5) In this case, her actions didn't matter (no harm, no foul), but she should learn from that little trip and do better
EDIT TO ADD:
I think that was her best, most sincere and mature post-race interview yet.
Get over it, dude. Your girl lost. Valby ran better. Better luck next time.
You're assuming I have "another girl" in that race?
1) They are in college. They are women.
2) Even after watching the race, I can't name a single other participant in it.
3) I'm thinking that it is safe to assume, since we're making assumptions, that you have never even come close to racing at a high level. Anyone who has knows that you pay attention during the race.

I saw the results and watched the replay. She is very expressive--which probably means she had a lot in the tank. She's going to be great in long form interviews where she can just talk. Which is difficult for many of the top athletes, they don't do much so they don't have much to say.
If she gets sponsors that are cool with her sticking her foot in her mouth on occasion she will be very successful.
Any actress or model would envy the range of facial expressions in 32 minutes showing her curiosity, enjoyment, frustration confusion, determination and joy. She turned a usually boring grind of an event into a master class of entertainment and in-the-moment immersion.
Tops even the previous GOAT, Haile G.
All the fanbois here are now wearing their speed googles. LOL

1) One dictionary definition of “girl” is “a young or relatively young woman.” Does this not describe Valby?
2) OK, then why are you so salty about Valby’s performance?
3) Not sure why the ad hominem about my own running ability is necessary, but I did pay attention to the race.
Please try to get over whatever it is that you have against Valby. You’ll be a healthier and happier person.
Hey Karen! Loosen up. I don’t think a wave from her was even noticed by the others. She’s already in their head by running next to them. You seem like a real buzz kill, Karen
Someone has a broken sarcasm detector.
Sarcasm? All the posters complaining about her is sarcasm?? You’re the broken detector
I'm not sure that's something we can conclude based on past behavior and interviews. And that might be part of what makes her so good. Often really intelligent runners will overthink things and get in their own way. It sometimes pays to have a simpler mindset and blindly follow instructions.

I observed something similar during the East Prelim 10k. Coach Palmer was stationed trackside on the backstretch and Valby checked in with him--always with a head turn & often with hand gestures as well--nearly every lap through 8k (If you look closely at the race video, the camera catches a few instances of this from the opposite side of the track). On a few passes, she did appear animated in a funny way, extending her arms outward with palms up and seeming to mouth "What?" "How many?" "Push up?" I attributed most of this to Palmer standing too close to a PA loudspeaker and Valby being unable to clearly hear or discern what he was saying..

"get over whatever it is you have against Valby"
1) She is probably my favorite college runner, if I have one. That does not mean that she should be looking around and mugging at fans during a championship race. No matter how much I root for her, I recognize that people should pay attention to their race.
2) The dictionary definition of "girl" is irrelevant. They are women. That's why we call high school races the "Girls' 1600" and so forth, and she just won the "Women's 10,000 Meters." Calling her a "girl" is demeaning.
3) My comment about your running ability is a result of you taking a position that no high level racer would take. All people who compete in championship races expect their fellow competitors to pay attention so they can avoid tripping.
I like Parker Valby very much, and I am perfectly happy and healthy. But thanks for the advice.

I agree with you regarding the bolded above. I’d hate to see Valby trip herself or someone else during a race, and she made me really nervous when she almost tripped her competitor because she wasn’t paying attention to what was going on around her. Hope she learns from this.
I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on everything else. Cheers.

Is she clearly intelligent? I have my doubts. Remember, she got scammed out of like $20k in a setup designed for gullible elderly folks.
As for constantly looking to her coach on the backstretch of every lap, aside from waiting for his signal for her to take off, what could she possibly need to know on EVERY lap of a 25 lap race?
I thought her antics were odd for a race: this is the ncaas. Waving and looking around and all over the place. She’d actually be dqd where I live for lack of sportsmanship in the state meet
Yes! Please keep track and field boring!! DQ her! Too fun and too much smiling! Nobody wants to watch that!
All Valby's antics are annoying and stupid, she should be DQd.

Well obviously Parker Valby is going to have greater range of facial expressions than a typical Hollywood starlet, because she hasn't had botox or collagen injections.🤷
One of the times she was looking over at the sidelines she was tripping over her own/other peoples feet when she looked back because she wasn’t paying attention. If Roe, Hilda or herself went down after that, people would’ve been mad. Why risk it?
"If herself went down?" What a weird thing to say. Is English your first language?
Valby not only carried on the way others described in her race but she then hung out on the infield after her interview blowing kisses into cameras, posing and preening for the entirety of the 4x4 races until finally a meet official came and motioned for her to leave and walked her off the track. Look -is she hamming it up for the cameras and creating huge buzz for herself as she looks at signing a pro deal YES is that great for her fans that love everything Valby SURE, it's also probably great for her as she is the IT girl of the moment and will capitalize on this on her way to the bank. Was it totally and completely obnoxious to the other athletes who left the infield appropriately and the athletes that were running the relay as she was commanding center stage for 30 minutes after her race and had to be told to crouch down as she was blocking the starters view? YES
I found her obnoxious - I see why others like her and why she's using this moment to milk every ounce she can out of the attention. Still off putting the way Im sure many people felt about Colleen Quigley who couldn't go 5 minutes without mentioning she used to model.
It is telling that most her competitors give her a cursory hug after then walk away.
I don’t know what’s more impressive; the fact that someone watched every single lap of the 10k <yawn> or there’s no video highlights of her “transgressions”. lame
