I’m not so sure it’s a weaker field compared to past years. Coburn and Fredrick’s are out, but Constien and Wayment are on top form, plus Gabrielle Jennings, and then who knows what if going on with Gear but she’s still shown much better recent form than Quigley. At this point I’d say Ostrander has a much better shot amongst the “runfluencers” than Quigley.

Take world medalists out of any field and it's much weaker. I don't care what everyone else's times are.
The steeple field is looking weak, can you blame her?
This. She was probably not planning on running steeple at all this year until coburn dropped. I think she’s still a long shot without Emma, but Colleen would have no shot if Emma were in.

To be clear, a healthy Frerichs could've made the team, but Coburn was no longer a threat before she dropped out.
prediction: she gets the trials standard but DNFs in the prelim. her fangirls actually believe her when she says everyone on the starting line has an equal chance of making the team?? it's a pure ploy for attention. her IG suggests she has indeed been training, but she's a fitness model at this point.
Getting attention is literally her job - not sure why this upsets so many people when she tries to do it well. Also she does not say everyone on the line has an equal chance but that everyone who lines up has a chance which is by definition true.

OK troll job. Coburn wasn't a threat to make the team? Come on.
I state this as a fan, Colleen - it's time to retire from track.
You have a good life in LA and you seem to enjoy being an influencer and aspiring triathlete more than you enjoy running. Let track go and embrace what you seem to enjoy more. Bike rides with your friends along the SoCal coast and up in Mandeville Canyon are better for mind and body than slogging through track sessions. You had a pretty good career with an NCAA title, an Olympic team spot, your Wanamaker Mile win, and being part of the greatest women's pro squad in US history. Breaking away from Nike to sign with Lululemon opened the door for other young women to seek other sponsor alternatives than a shoe company with a spotty reputation for its treatment of female athletes.
Enjoy your life with Kevin and Pie. Start a new and exciting chapter in your life. It's time to let track and field go.
She has to maintain the idea that she's still a world class athlete, for herself and sponsors and mental health fans.
But she needs to race to do that.
Hopefully she can make the trials more interesting for the fans by competing
+1
The model is:
Be a good to very good female athlete and use that to build a large to huge following on social media.
Use that following to line up the sponsors.
Keep that gravy train going through use of the word "Olympics," whether that be selling the idea that you are going to the Olympics, to the Olympic Trials, trying to qualify for the Olympic Trials as part of your dream to go to/return to the Olympics... the average Instagram follower has no idea how much bunk some of this is. Just use the word OLYMPICS a lot and you'll be fine. You'll get the views and the likes.

She already said months ago that this would be her last year competing on the track.
