I am not losing my mind... I just wanted to point out that as a lifelong resident of the PNW, we never used to need A/C, homes never had A/C, and we expected June to still be pretty mild and rainy. Summer really did used to start "after the 4th of July" for us.
Now it starts earlier, is measurably hotter, much drier, and lasts longer. You see it in the mountains where the glaciers just aren't what they used to be (for mountain climbers). This isn't political, this is just something we can see and measure when we are outdoors in the world. As runners, we tend to care a lot about air quality and the environment because we are "in it" more than most people.
BTW, if someone says, "we've always had 90° days!" they are right. But we didn't used to have 25 or 30 of them. We had 10. To act like there is nothing happening is weird since measuring things is just science/math. It isn't political at all.
No one is requiring you to care or do anything. But in the name of common sense at least admit it is indeed getting hotter and hotter. Even this older graphic show that the hottest years are all fairly recently (and the last three years have been even worse):
