Can you identify a championship race where you think that happened? I checked last year’s WC, and this year’s World Indoors, and both times he was right where he needed to be with 400m to go.
”He doesn’t believe he can win”. Even renowned, minder reader Kara Goucher wouldn’t dare make that claim.
Did we watch the same 3k? Yared himself admitted that his positioning was poor at World Indoors. He was in 6th with 350 to go and didn’t respond to the moves until 150 to go, which almost cost him silver.
With all the PEDs in sport it’s a fair question to ask if dentistry is a more respectful occupation over competitive running.
How could you post something so ridiculous? You have more respect for a possibly overweight person that acquired a college degree and spent four years at a dental school over distance runners train extremely hard for years and years?
I you want talk about dentists you shouldn’t be posting in this thread.
How? The tennis legend Arthur Ash once commented that he preferred to see individuals from his disadvantaged community go into education vs professional tennis. I admire Nuguse as an athlete & student.

Holy crap! The title of this thread is:
“YARED NUGUSE: you got the talent, now COMPETE LIKE YOU'RE THE BEST”
What the F does Arthur Ash and dentists have to do with the thread topic?
Do you agree with the OP’s premise that Nuguse lacks the confidence to win championships? If so, can you cite some races that you think support your opinion?
3:46 for 3rd, I think naguse has a chance at medaling this year. I didnt expect i
Jakob to be that close to kerr. Kerr is in the best shape of his life and barely beat jakob who sat out for 9 months. You can downvote me, but you wont know better than me: jakob is taking gold in the 1500
It's the classic Letsrun amateur fallacy that if someone doesn't win, they just need to try harder, focus more or "stay with the leaders"....
I don't know if he'd have won, but in the 3k indoors, he was kicking for 2nd instead of 1st because he let Kerr go. He should've made the move that Hacker made, or immediately gone with Kerr when he made his move. It was almost certainly a confidence issue imo. He either had too much confidence in his kick (maybe he just didn't think Kerr could close in 25.1), or he lacked the confidence to go with Kerr (2-mile WR holder).
But today, I just think he wasn't in shape to beat Kerr or Jakob. He actually put himself in really good position, getting into 2nd behind Jakob before 400m (running some extra distance to do it). I thought he was gonna fall off the pace a couple times too, but he kept reattaching himself. I don't think we need to be worried about him at all right now. He's in fantastic shape, he just ran the 2nd fastest mile by an American ever, only behind his own time from the DL final last year, and it's only May. He's a level behind Jakob and Josh, but more than a level ahead of the rest of the world.

.88 seconds is a “level” down? Would 1.76 seconds be two levels down?

1. My comment was in response to comment #4 where dentists was introduced. This is a forum where comments don’t perfectly reflect the title.
2. You must be unaware that Nuguse is qualified to study dentistry, so he has options, meaning running isn’t 100% his future.
3. Posting here seems to be difficult for you. You would be wise to just read along!

Whatever, but if you’re not interested in a thread topic, why do you click on it?
Nuguse no doubt have the talent to compete for the win in any 1500m, Mile, or 3000m but he doesn't put himself in the best position on a regular basis. He needs to believe that he DESERVES to win and be more aggressive and smarter tactically.
Man up Nuguse and gain Josh, Jake, and Jacob respect as a real threat to them and not just as the really fast American
Him beating Jake today is the answer, him beating everyone is. Josh who new mile personal best is 2 plus seconds than Jacob and Yared found a way to win. WHEN will Yared win a big matchup against ALL his top competition, mostly likely never til he change his tactics and risk blowing up to ACTUALLY WIN

This makes him about as qualified to be a dentist right now as you are. So far he has finished a bachelor's degree, completed the pre dental requirements and applied to dental school. Has not taken any dental school classes.
Almost every US pro has completed/or close to their bachelor's degree, which is sufficient to enter the working world. They all have plenty of options in addition to running.

l never said a word about him taking dental school classes.
His degree is in Biochemistry from Notre Dame, if you think all Bachelor degrees are the same we’ll go play in the street.
It's totally refreshing, Nuguse, a top racer without the ego.
He'll win, if not today than tomorrow. No need to be an ass.
Although do love the Jakob. But one super ego is enough (Kerr's one too much imo).
American always feel themselves the center of the world.
In Mandarin, Mei Guo, which means beautiful country, refers to and sounds at least a bit like America. And Zhong Guo, which means middle country or middle kingdom, refers to China. I gotta give the edge in self-centeredness to the Chinese. And America is, after all, an Italian name.
