If I remember correctly, some teams don't live in the Olympic Village. They rent out whole floors of upscale hotels. Didn't one sport bring a leased (small) cruise ship to the Oly city's port?

I've been sleeping in one of those beds with my wife for the last ten years
That's almost my experience. We have that bed but I don't sleep there. I don't want to cuddle - I just mount her and then sleep in the other room where I get great rest.

This is a capitalistic scam. They are providing the athletes with an unacceptable free option so they must pay for reasonable accommodations on the local economy.
