It was described that multiple people felt she was unsafe and led to the initial Safesport complain. The it was just a waterfall of other incidents from there. Attacks against people on social media using his profile that Kaela tagged to as her coach, gay slurs at athletes, and just unreal amounts of abusive language to her. So many athletes who have trained around or with Kaela had similar stories.

And to think, I actually felt bad suggesting him as the worst NCAA champion in recent memory on a thread a while back. I felt that might be a little mean because from a total outsider perspective I assumed he was a decent guy. Definitely considering him the worst NCAA champ on bad behavior alone. Now I'm wondering how it's taken so long for this to happen because this thread makes it sound like he's had issues since back in high school and only got worse through college/pros.
how does the safe sport suspension work? Chad has posted a video of Kaela doing some gym work on his instagram story today.
Hopefully Yasmin Hernandez can get away from Chad coaching her, ran 2:03 and won the D2 800m title at CSU Pueblo. Been running well slower than her PB since Chad started coaching her. No insights into him as a person, but he's doing a bad job of coaching Yasmin
The former Oregon NCAA champ and current coach/boyfriend of Kaela Edwards (2023 World 800 qualifier) has been temporarily suspended by USATF for allegations of misconduct. The allegations stem from incidents of athlete verbal abuse toward Kaela. A number of people submitted complains to USATF about how Chad treated her and using homophobic slurs against some of his athletes.
USATF brought in an independent investigator who interview NUMEROUS athletes and witness and found that as they interviewed more, more awful behavior came to light and the investigation grew. Kaela agent was one of the folks to speak with Safe Sport.
Frankly, the stories about Chad are awful. He seems like he has a lot of hate in his heard and I am glad to see him go. He needs help. And to stop hurting athletes.
Without doxing myself too much, I knew Chad in high school. His personality was always abrasive and egotistical.
There are people on the safe sport list that are still coaching. Does safe sport have any enforcement power??
Safe Sport only applies to things under the Olympic umbrella. Someone who is ineligible under Safe Sport cannot do things like compete in a USATF sanctioned event, officiate or otherwise work at a USATF sanctioned event, coach at a USATF sanctioned event, coach at a USATF member club, etc.
Unlike doping bans, there are no penalties for athletes who train with a coach who is ineligible under Safe Sport, they just face issues around their coach not being credentialed or able to coach at their events.
SafeSport has no authority over what happens in the high school, college, AAU, private, etc coaching realms.

I just got banned for saying that this guy has a punchable face. Really? So, Emma Coburn is a terrible person and Joe is a terrible person is fine, but Chad has a punchable face has crossed the line. Watching him get nipped at the line at the 2010 state championships after celebrating early was probably my favorite part of the meet.
