Name all these better runners that were knocked out in the rounds. Montano had the 4th fastest time in the world coming in behind Niyonsaba, Semenya and Jelimo - all DSD. You might not like her but Alysia had to compete in an era when all of the top athletes in the event were dopers or non-female.
We shouldn’t give bronze medals to people who did not finish 3rd. If you want to take away the medal from someone for “doping,” that’s one thing. But don’t give it to someone who didn’t earn it.
I'm sure you'd be saying the exact same thing if said athlete happened to be a pony tailed westerner.

Savinova used a cocktail of EPO & Anavar after switching from testosterone that was too androgenic & giving her side-effects (all the details are in her CAS hearing).
Amazing what PEDs can do with a high-responder. And anabolic steroids are particularly potent with female athletes, even in very low doses.

What difference does that make? If you don’t finish 3rd, you don’t get bronze. East, West, whatever, it should still apply.
Also, I rewatched the London race and Montano got 5th! And she ran a tactically poor race.

She finished 5th behind 2 cheaters and 2 non-females. BTW, the 3rd place finisher who was just banned, came in with a PR of 2:02.64. She broke that by over 5 seconds in the final. I guess she just had a good day. Right.....
Since London she has changed her name at least once and changed her country to Turkey.
Ekaterina Poistogova-Guliyev looks set to lose her silver medal from the 800 metres at the London Olympics after being banned for four years for historic doping by the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF).

If you want to take the medals away from athletes because you think they “cheated” or are “non-females” then I suppose you are entitled to that opinion. I disagree. You cross the line first, you get gold, in my book.
Buy don’t give the medal to someone who didn’t earn it. Just vacate the medal.

It's early April but you have a commanding lead in the contest for the stupidest comment of the year on letsrun!!!
Think about training your entire athletic career and getting in races and not having the ability to have earned the medal fairly? she was never given the opportunity to win the medal fairly (without dsd or apparently someone using drugs). There is no recourse for the money lost, the moments on the award stand lost, finishing 5th knowing people didn’t belong in the race. it seems weird as a fan that we don’t feel empathy for these athletes
So if some dude runs on the course at the end of a major marathon and breaks the tape, does that mean he’s the winner, and even once he’s removed from the results no one else can ever be called the race winner?
has anybody noticed, it's RUSSIA who has banned her, not WADA or IAU or whoever.
if i understand right the London Olympics people only had 10 years to test samples and retroactively punish, which expired 2 years ago.
why is Russia banning it's own athletes? seems like a very un-russian thing to do especially if they were giving her the drugs which is what we are led to believe "state sponsored doping programme".
ahh, now it all makes sense. she switched allegiances to Turkey.

Great point. I thought there was an 8 or 10 year statute of limitations on old samples so I was wondering what happened.
Because it's based on LIMS data/Rodchenkov info probably from the whole doping scandal. It's not regular "let's test the sample" testing, it's part of the larger investigation which is why the 10 year statute of limitations doesn't apply

What you said would make sense if you had posted it on April 1st.

I'm not finding any re-test positive from WADA on Ekertarina Poistagova? (who has since changed her name to Ekertarina Guliyev). Do you have link on any re-test positive?
Russian athlete Ekaterina Poistogova-Guliyev, 33, will almost certainly be stripped of her silver medal in the 800 metres at the London 2012 Olympic G...
In her CAS hearing, from the evidence of the McLaren report, she admitted to another Russian athlete (Stepanova) in using EPO during the lead up to the London Olympics. However, for some strange reason there's no ABP data on her at all...and of course no positive test from the samples taken at London:
OTOH, Savinova also admitted to Stepanova in the McLaren report using EPO, Anavar & GH peptides in the lead up to London. There's also positive test results from samples taken at the games. However, there's ABP data showing hematological anomalies for both London & Daegu a year earlier where she won gold at the WC.
You can look up Savinova's CAS hearing which goes into great detail on the McLaren report.
