I was 16 in 84. So many people got out of town because of the feared traffic nightmare, but it turned out to be the best two weeks ever.I took a shuttle from Van Nuys Valley College to the LA Coliseum, a 20 mile trip, in less than 30 minutes. Not saying it will be the same experience this time, but traffic and transportation may not be that bad.
Grand plans to build rail lines crisscrossing the region by the time the Games start have been dashed, and officials are trying to figure out how to pay more than $1 billion to run buses that will probably disappear after the Games.
That's only $95,238 for each of the 10,500 athletes. Wouldn't uber be cheaper? I'm only somewhat kidding.
A bus rental is $2,500 per day. Do they really need 400,000 buses?
Guessing they need more busses for the spectators and the millions of residents and overall traffic mediation during that time. But that's assuming they don't just make everyone in the city stay home for three weeks.
Remember Beijing shut down in 2008 to cut down on pollution? I wonder if LA has some sort of mitigation for the air pollution. Smokey air should be expected along with the regular smog
The OPs source is fox news misinformation. The money goes to rail and subways, which are not buses, and won't be torn down, no matter how hard Fox spins in circles.

exactly. I was in graduate school at USC then, and I remember apocalyptic warnings in advance ("you think the traffic is always bad here? Wait till the Olympics"), and it turned out everyone made alternate plans, and the traffic was about the level of the first few weeks of COVID shutdown instead.

Anything that a liberal disagrees with, they resort to Fox News. If it's on Youtube with the person actually saying it, you know, moving their mouth while having sound come out, then it's not a source.
But...if it's on CNN or MSNBC or Youtube or Politico or....and it fits their narrative, then they are fine and dandy with it.
This site is made up of at least 75% disgruntled left wingers who are obsessed with Trump day after day after day. What a sad existence to let one person live in your brain constantly. If they weren't afraid of him winning this Fall, then why the obsession? They are afraid and know what's most likely to happen so they spread every false rumor about him that they can. They have my pity.

So amazing. The OP forgot to include the link which is from the left leaning LA times and someone who didn't ike it accused it of being from Fox News. I have added the link to the first post as well.
These busses must be from the same corrupt politicians who spend over $100k per year per park employee to have dilapidated parks, and between $700,000 - $1,000,000 per 400 sqft apartment they’re giving away to bums. They’re building a subway through an earthquake zone full of tar and explosive gas.
Los Angeles is a crumbling, corrupt joke. Unfortunately the residents seem to have lost the ability to vote out the gang that is running the place.
Traffic was way down during the ‘84 games as people left town or heeded the overly dramatic warnings. I went to the Coliseum for 2 days of track and field via shared van. It was a actually a great commuting experience.
Why would $ per athlete be a relevant measure at all. It's as relevant as $ per tee shirt vendor.
There are about 15 million expected visitors at the Paris Olympics. If we used those attendance numbers for LA, that would work out to ~$67/person/bus/1 trip. LA is probabaly going to have more visitors, so this even further lowers the cost of bus trips per person. Yes, this is still a lot of $ for transportation, but it's small potatoes in the overall cost. This website has attracted too many 'tards over the years (I'm looking at you, GOP kids).

Fox News is 'left-leaning' too...
But really the entire political spectrum is a key element of a diabolical divide-and-conquer strategy.

Try to check your information when getting said information from lying news sources. This is nonsense.

Former Californian here. While this seems absurd remember this is a state that has spent $80 billion and climbing on a bullet train to Bakersfield. Obviously these busses are for spectators. But there is so much incompetence and grift I'm California it will be no surprise if absurd ammounts of money for the Olympics is spent in ridiculous fashion.
No, as always, the people who most loudly claim “misinformation” spread it most. The OP’s source is the LA times.
The OP lifted his post from Fox News, NOT the LA Times. Do try to keep up. ... Don't spread "misinformation". (And don't use "smart" quotes in forums.)
