Tinman Running Calculator

I emailed Tom to see if this was a permanent situation or not. I don't speak website well. Hoping it's just a server issue or something.

I use the calculator for my athletes and find it super helpful. I was really bummed to see it down also and had to use my best guess for training paces at practice tonight.

The good news is that another coach friend of mine is good friends with Tinman so I asked if he would reach out about it. He was told tonight that it’s supposed to be back up next week. Tinman is doing some revamping apparently.

Man, I miss my boy's calculator......anyone else been refreshing the page a couple of times an hour for the past couple of days?!?!?

I do not know why there is so much hate here against Tinman.

My headstone will show up something like that:

'He was ahead of his time by 20+ years' or

'He tried to help crying LRCs, who used the Tinmans calculator but are not able to calculate CV by themself'

or

'Universal running intensity is %CV'

haha, something like that.

Found a workaround for the calculator. Final Surge seems to have the backend data saved under workout calculators (stopwatch logo at the top on the old site or calculator logo on the right on beta) as well as a couple other popular pace calculators. He is rebranding/moving the website and the calculator FE is still under development. When done i'm assuming this will be the landing page.

Here is a Weebly pdf of Tinman's Pace charts to hold you over until the update is finished. Only down side it doesn't have anything faster than 15 flat for 5k.

This is great to have. Thank you. I've relied on the calculator quite a bit for a quick and dirty guide when writing workouts.

I'm surprised by how gentle the curve is (how linear the relationships is relative to 5K pace), at least at first glance. A simple formula gets you within a second of the slow end of 1K CV pace: 5Kpace/4.75 [with an adjustment of +1 second for every minute you are over 19:00].

Pretty sure that and 40+ mpw would get you in the top 5% of all HS xc programs. It is at the good enough stage for kids.

My impression is people are bothered a lot more by the man than the training
